Description:
When you think of quintessentially summer dresses, a camisole sundress instantly springs to mind. With its iconic spaghetti straps and bare shoulders look, it is a kind of dress you’d want to wear on those hot summer days when you feel like wearing as little as possible.
Our Luna pattern is a classic camisole sundress thin spaghetti straps, semi-fitted lined bodice, side zipper and a gathered skirt. It also features two handy patch pockets that give it a relaxed feel. Customer Questions and Answers
Does anyone have recommendations for hacking the pattern to not include a zip? I'm not sure I'll be able to find an invisible zipper where I live, michaels didn't have one.
Invisible zippers are easily found online if you cannot find one locally. Otherwise, you may like to adjust the pattern to have a button closures. Simply search The Thread blog for tutorials.
I recently made the Luna dress in the FS white linen, and love it more than I thought I would (with my beginner seamstress skills)! I was between sizes, so choose the larger size to be safe, and it did run a bit large, so I ended up taking in the sides a bit. But I'm so thrilled with the results, and plan on taking this dress with me to Italy in August! It's probably the most "legitimate" piece I've sewn so far—the zipper, gathered skirt, and darts make this such a polished piece. Thank you for the pattern (and the linen)!
This pattern has great instructions. It was easy to put together and easy to follow. The pockets were cumbersome to attach after everything was assembled. Next time I will mark them when I cut the pieces and attach before assembling. Also, as everyone else has said it was way too big. I made the smallest size and the torso is too long, the arm holes gaped, and the straps were too long. I added two darts in the back to fix the arm hole gaping and it works but it's still an I'll fitting dress. I'll wear it over a bathing suit to the river or to garden in. It'll be a nice summer dress that I don't mind getting dirty!
Loved this pattern! I sort of hacked it, changing the kind of pockets and not using a zip and I am so so happy with the result! I used this stunning vintage fabric that was in my grandmother's stash for the past thirty years! Can't wait to sew other patterns! Kisses from Florence, Italy Posted by Giuditta
This is a lovely pattern! Easy to make and the dress is beautiful. Perfect linen sundress. I made the smallest size however and it is a bit big. Definitely not the fit the model is showing. But I sort of like it as it is, baggier. Might adjust it and might a tighter version later. Might not!
I love this dress!!! And I get so many compliments! Based on my body measurements, I should be a 0/2 because of my bust and a 4/6 because of my waist. At the end of the day, I altered the pattern to be even smaller than the 0/2. And there is still some space to make it smaller for my next go around.
