Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces, this 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

It's beautiful fabric but too yellow and sheer for what I needed. Ordering a heavier weight!

After reading your Shibori Dye tutorials, I had to try it. I used the Bleached Medium Weight linen and the Faye Duster/Kimono pattern. Am very happy with the result. SunRagsStudio sunragsstudio.etsy.com

For this skirt, since I used BLEACHED Medium Weight Linen, I didn't make the skirt as fitted but retained that pencil like silhouette. I designed this with a 4" elastic waist that eased in the fulness nicely. The hand draped flowers at the waist and along the skirt added weight that forces the skirt to hang straight. They also bring balance and interest.

I use this fabric for everything. It sews beautifully and I've dyed it several times. It's lightweight, soft, and drapes beautifully.

The leaves of the willow yield warm pinks in the dye pot and can be modified to give shades of pinks, plumbs and mauves. To create a dye, I separated the leaves from the stalks. Then I gently simmered the leaves in water for roughly 4 hours. I removed the pot from the heat and let it cool overnight. The next day I returned it to the heat and simmered for another 4 hours. I strained out the leaves and added a few pieces of FS BLEACHED PFD Linen to the dye bath. I also added some small swatches of linen and left them in for various lengths of time. The leaves released a beautiful soft pink dye, warm, calming and surprising.
