Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces, this 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

Is this soft enough to make a shirt?

Sewed my first garment since 1967

I'm in love with this linen. My first sewing project in years and I'm pleased with the results, especially the fabric. So pleased in fact I ordered 3 more Doggy bags if linen! The shirt is a Simplicity pattern. I like the shaped cuffs and the pleats in the back. The arms gave me a wee bit of trouble, nut I persevered. I only discovered the overlock foot on my machine after I finished. But, I've gone back in and overlocked the seams. Planning to review the tutorial on seams asap.

This finish is the best! Soft. Eager to try to dye it for a jumpsuit I want to make. The color by itself is so fresh. I only buy linen from the Fabric Store!

Wonderful linen fabric

I love this fabric. I have purchased it twice and maybe three times. I made a quilt for a customer out of it. She requested a queen size with handstitching for the quilting. I had to hand dye some of the fabric since she wanted two shades of blue. She loved it. I will post a picture of it before I finished it. Forgot to take a pic of it after I finished.

Can't wait to get started

I have just unpacked my fabric and Zina shirt pattern. Haven't had time to get started yet but I can't wait. The fabric feels beautifully soft, and I haven't washed it yet. I have read the instructions for the Zina shirt and it is so well presented. I love that it uses french seams; my favourite for neat and strong. I haven't made a shirt like this since my teens; 40 years ago. Wish me luck!

cozy soft texture

I really like the soft rumpled texture of this fabric. I can wear it straight from the dryer without ironing. It doesn't have creases. I used it to make the Riva shirt pattern. I was also really impressed with the detailed directions in the printed pattern from FS. It all came together very nicely.

It has been many years since I have attempted to make clothing. This linen was very easy to work with. Extremely soft, very little shrinkage. I have tested a sample of the linen with dye and it takes dye beautifully. Trying to figure out what my next project is going to be.

I made the Julia top in size 4 using Lightweight OPTIC WHITE Softened linen fabric and went for the sleeveless option (view C) for extra breathability.

This linen shirt is my first sewing project since high school, over 5pm years ago! The linen was a dream to work with and I can barely wait to start another linen project. Maybe a simple t-shirt?

For the shirt I used: FS BLEACHED Mediumweight Signature Finish Linen as I figured ivory would match most of the bottoms in my wardrobe. I have to say the signature finish is so soft on the skin and I wished that all linens came in this form. This is one of the most dreamiest fabrics I have worked with and even before I cut out the pattern pieces, I knew I would love this shirt solely because of the fabric.

Made this top for summer, using the IL019 BLEACHED FS Signature Finish - 100% Linen - Middle (5.3 oz/yd2). Just placed another order to make a sundress. Love this fabric!!
