Customer Questions and Answers
I don't have a printer, and am having trouble getting this printed out. My local print shop uses only letter size paper. When they load the file in Microsoft Word and print, the 2" square is correct, but a part of each page is cut off at the edge. I am in Central America, so there is no Kinko's or other nationwide print shop here. Can you recommend an online print shop for this?
Hello, they may need to center the page to ensure one side isn't getting cut off.
Where can I find sewing instructions for the Phoebe Tank?
Simply go to our blog, The Thread: blog.fabrics-store.com and search for "Phoebe" in the search box.
I have set my default to open pdf's in Adobe and everyone opens NOT in adobe so I only get 4 to 5 pages of your description and how to download. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe, the most current version , I've changed my site settings .I've made adobe my default. I'm a registered customer--which BTW I LOVE your Nico and Lily paper pattern. Best bias dress ever!
Hi! Yay about the Lily and Nico :) The Free PDF patterns - this depends on how your browser is set to preview files and to download them. Your browser is most likely showing you the file in its own "preview" mode - you see the file but have no functions of that file. You'd want to save that file to your device and then open Adobe and then in the Adobe menu - ask it to open the saved file ( the file might be in the downloads or recent files folder). If you are stuck - send us an email to customer service letting us know what device you are using and we will walk you through it.
I've made four versions of this tank and have more planned! I've made it as is, cropped it, pieced it, and added tiers to make one of my favorite dresses. After my first one, I went up a size for the armscye and found that much more comfortable. It's the perfect staple and only takes me about an hour and a half to make.
I've been looking for a comfortable tank for ages. This is it. I have a very small chest and have decided I only need an undershirt instead of a bra. I started with the pattern as is, size 10-12. As I progressed, I lowered the neck line so the upper edge of the tank peeks out at the top of my shirts. This is easy to make and very comfortable made from IL030, IL020 and gauze. I've made 8 so far.
Lined it with very thin cotton (batiste) as a facing. Added self drafted sleeves. Fits me perfectly.
I've made this top twice. The first time I made it with a light linen and the second with a medium weight. The first worked well (I enlarged the armhole), yet it felt a little boxy, so I tried cutting the fabric on the bias for the second one. I was pleasantly surprised at what a difference this made. I don't know anything about cutting on the bias except that it usually make a garment more flowy. I didn't know how to work with the trim on the bias (do you stretch the trim a lot more?), so the back neck gapes a little. Since I was working with scraps, I had to sew a few angles that I'm not familiar sewing, so the shirt doesn't look as good as it would if an expert were doing it. I'm pleased, though. Thank you! For a beginner, this is a great pattern!
I have made this top 4 times. I made it for a friend and then two more times out of fabric scraps. I love that it doesn't take too much fabric. so simple to pair with printed skirts.
I measured at a size 4/6 with 1 yard of cotton with minimal stretch. The armholes were a bit snug and there was too much friction near my armpit/bust. I will adjust the next top to open the armhole a bit or size up. This size might be perfect with a performance stretch fabric, I will try again. It was the perfect pattern to try making bias tape for the first time.
