Customer Questions and Answers
There are no markings to indicate which is the front and which is the back of the sleeves.
The back of the sleeve cap on this pattern will sit higher than the front. I will send you an email tutorial which has a photo showing this.
Chelsea Pattern sewing inclused ? Please
Hello, You can find the sewing instructions on our blog. Simply go to blog.fabrics-store.com and search for 'Chelsea Linen Raglan tee' in the search box. Here is a link: blog.fabrics-store.com/2018/05/08/chelsea-linen-raglan-tee-tutorial/
How would I simplify the neckline and eliminate the pleats? I made a practice top without the pleats and the neck was too wide. Thanks.
You may like to gather the neckline to spread the excess fabric which would usually be enclosed in the pleats. The gathers will be small and you could even gather the whole neckline to make them less obvious.
Hi! I see only the pattern pieces...where are the instructions? Thank you!
Hello, Instructions can be found on our Blog. Simply go to blog.fabrics-store.com and search the pattern name in the search bar.
I'm trying to glue the cutout pages together but the numbers on the pages don't seem to match. How can the pages be adjusted to each other? TIA, Talia
Hi Talia, our patterns are designed so the quarter circles in each corner will match up, making a full circle when assembled. If your pages aren't lining up, you may need to check your 2" test square on the first page of the pattern pieces.
Hi! I'm having trouble finding the pattern itself - when I click on "download" it opens a six page PDF, but not the printable pattern. Am I missing something?
Please open the pattern in Adobe Acrobat Reader, then check the pattern 'attachments'. The pattern files are located there. If you need more help please see our Help Center tutorials or email our helpful staff.
The annoyance of downloading this pattern here and then having to search for a blog for the tutorial and then download that is too much. Please make everything available together, there is no point to add the pattern pieces as an attachment on the pdf where the original pdf has no sewing instructions.
Hello, Thank you for your feedback. In order to offer so many patterns for free, we had to keep the download size down. This is why we have kept the instructions over on our blog. Additionally, this has made it easier to constantly update and perfect these instructions without making any previous downloads stuck with errors. If you woudl prefer a pattern with an instruction booklet, we have a range of premium patterns you can purchase :)
Pattern description says sizes to 28/30 are included, but pattern says only to 20/22.
Hello, Thanks for picking up this error. The pattern does only go up to a size 20/22.
I am a beginner and tried this free pattern. I absolutely love the fit. Sometimes raglan sleeves aren't fitting well on wider shoulders resulting in collard that is too wide. This is perfect, easy and quick to make. Enjoy!
Thank you for this lovely pattern. I can't wait to make it!
Love this pattern! Super simple. Made up a couple! But DO make a muslin/practice piece first to identify any tweaks you need to make to fit your body. After making a muslin, I decided to: 1. Omit the pleats on the back so the neck is less snug, 2. Change sleeves to be a bit longer (to elbow) without cuffs, and 3. Increase bust by 1/2" on each side (total of 2") and hip 1" on each side (total of 4"), drawing a slanted line between the two points. Worked out perfectly for me!
I used a very light weight pink blush linen. To add more volume I switched out the pleats to make pin-tuck pleats instead. Because this pattern has a fair amount of volume you can use a sheer linen and it not be too revealing. I also used a box pleat on each sleeve to make the sleeve more fitted.
This pattern was perfect for a beginner's first piece. Originally, I planned on leaving out the pleats but realized that would lengthen the neckline and bias tape needed and I already prepared the bias tape for the pattern's original length with pleats. I made note to add 2-3" for the future if planning on leaving out the pleats, but ended up pleasantly surprised with the end result! I most often pair the Chelsea top with matching Cass pants to make a cozy and effortlessly cool linen set. But it's also nice to dress up or down with jeans. I find myself wanting to pull this out of my closet everyday! I made this in large and find it true to size. I used IL019 MIX NATURAL for this top.
