I just downloaded and printed the pattern for the Diana dress. I'm going to make it out of Montana Grape fabric and put hemstitched patch pockets on it. Thank you so much for the excellent instructions for printing and the free pattern!
Hope to see photos!
Hi, I would love to make this dress, but I don't see the chart telling me how much fabric to purchase. Can you give me a link?
Hi! This is one of our earlier patterns when we didn't have a size/fabric chart included in the PDF. The sewing tutorial says 2.5 yards for size 6 US - you can email us askfabrics-store.com what size you'd like to make and I will ask our seamstress how much fabric she suggests. The sewing tutorial can be found here : blog.fabrics-store.com/2016/10/07/linen-button-down-pleated-dress-tutorial/
Hi ! Thank you for this wonderful pattern. I downloaded it, and it is not available in size 0/2, why is that ? I usually wear xsmall or small, so I wish I could sew it in a smaller size... Thanks !
This dress is empire - in other words,(for new sewists) the bodice hits slightly below the bustline, not close to the waist as it appears on the model. A better representation is the picture accompanying Karen's work. Unless you wish the pockets at your waistline, you will need to place them lower than the blog states. I will be making a second dress with an adjustment to the pattern to lower the bodice edge to my true waistline, as the empire style is not as flattering to my shape.
The link to the tutorial on The Thread isn't working. Please can you help?
Hi! We noticed the tutorial disappeared a couple of days ago and our tech team is trying to restore it. Send me an email to ask@fabrics-store.com and I will email you when we get it back up
Hi, When I opened this one, the PDF pattern was there but no instruction were. I don't always use the instructions but I like to have them just in case. Did I do something wrong when I downloaded it? Thank you
Hi! This pattern is in conjunction with a tutorial so that's where you will find the step by step sewing instructions. There should be a link on the 2nd page of the PDF to the tutorial, but just in case - here it is: https://blog.fabrics-store.com/2016/10/07/linen-button-down-pleated-dress-tutorial/
This pattern was accurate and easy to sew. I made it with a medium weight linen and I love how it turned out. Thank you for a great pattern!
This dress looks so comfortable! I couldn't find the fabric requirements though.
Good afternoon - some of the patterns are in conjunction with tutorials. There you will find fabric yardage and sewing instructions. The links to the tutorial are going to be on the 2nd page of the PDFs - just in case here is the link as well for this specific pattern - https://blog.fabrics-store.com/2016/10/07/linen-button-down-pleated-dress-tutorial/. Hope this helps and please let me know if you have other questions.
This is my favorite pattern! I've made it up in several colors and weights of linen, patterned and solid, and also in African wax cloth :). If you cut the length of the skirt piece in half, it's also a great swing blouse - I've made a few in lightweight linen and Liberty cotton. For a slightly more fitted version, tuck a little vertical dart under the bust, not from the side.
I didnt see a place where they tell how much fabric you might need for a particular size. since this is not cheap fabric i dont want to buy more than i need.
I have always wanted a mustard linen dress and saw one I really liked on ASOS but was way out of my budget. When I came across this pattern, I realised it was time to make one for myself. As a sewing novice, I found the pattern easy to follow and it really helped me gain confidence in making button holes (a technique I have been avoiding for years). I also added front pockets. Great fit and I highly recommend this pattern.
