Description:

Just like timeless elegance comes in simple shapes, our Ana Sofia is the iconic pencil skirt with a fresh linen look. Feminine and timeless, it sits at the natural waist, has a practical knee-length and buttons at the front. It fits so well your body, hugging your curves and enhancing all your assets. That's the power of a pencil skirt!

Ana Sofia has all our favorite details like a high waistline, tailored button bands, pockets and a back yoke. The reversible medium weight linen we chose for this project adds an interesting detail to this classic design and provides enough body and weight to hold the pencil silhouette.

Annetta profile image Very pleased

Had to make it twice and the second one was absolutely perfect. I'll be making this pattern again for sure! Thank you for a great pattern that's a great fit.

Charlotte profile image Classic, clean lines

The photographed model is clearly wearing a skirt a size too small. A pity, as she does the design an injustice. This pattern offers a clean, crisp silhouette, neat pockets, a flattering back yoke, precise plackets and top stitching. I made mine in a grey/green linen/cotton blend. I sized in-between, so used the 8/10 pattern and took 1cm off the entire side seams. I did the top-stitching at 1/8th inch for a neater finish. Love the look of this skirt, functional and stylish. Clear instructions, will make again.

A wardrobe staple

I was looking for a narrow skirt pattern with front buttons as I wanted to refashion a linen maxi skirt I had (that hat a slit on center front). So I had a limited choice in my selection of patterns, but the Ana Sophia pattern that I discovered turned out to be such a nice take of the classic pencil skirt that I'll do more versions of it, in linen and maybe also corduroy for fall/winter. Will post photos after I receive the buttons and can finish my skirt. Looking forward to wearing it!

This classic design is usually seen in blue jeans skirts/denim. The instructions use the double-sided Golden Wheat which is a perfect choice for a tutorial. I used the IL019 softened Natural linen so careful marking of the wrong/inside and right/outside is really important. Yeah, I had to rip a seam apart. So I thought in terms of the pieces mirroring and comparing my layout to the photos. The layered PDF pattern allows for choosing multiple sizes to customize fit. In my case the size 18 waist with the size 22 hip. As far as the fabric is concerned, this is my first time ever using linen and I'm hooked. The website lists all the reasons people shied away from using linen. Freshly washed linen is so fragrant, right up there with freshly ground coffee. It irons more easily than expected.  I'm wearing the skirt right now as I write this review.

Bad Fit?

Is this skirt really meant to fit this way, too tight at the waist, too tight at the hips causing the pockets to budge? I wish you could find a model who build isn't quite so rectangular (waistless), wears a bra and has better posture. It would give a more accurate idea for the way the clothing should hang. I do like the patterns you select but perhaps shown on more of a variety of shapes will help sewers determine what will suit them, for instance I have a bust line and a small waist and I haven't found much in your patterns that would not look boxy on me if I fit it to my 36" bust.

This is my second time taking this. I made two in one weekend. The first one is in a wool that my husbands grandma owned. That one turned out a tad too small, but still wearable. This is a second one made out of a linen I already owned. This one was a perfect fit. I had to make the waist band longer than the pattern and then adjusted it to the skirt. This will bevy perfect teachers skirt.

Crisp linen/cotton blend, size 8/10 reduced at side seams by 1cm. Op-shop buttons. Top stitching detail really elevates the look. Nice skirt, fits well, easy sew, good instructions.

I used linen, I shortened the skirt. I love my skirt. The size is perfect.

Ana Sofia skirt in IL019 ELEPHANT Softened. Loved how the pockets come together.

Apologies for the bad lighting conditions. Just wanted to show how well this pattern fits. This is the second smallest size available, slightly widened at the waist to suit my morphology.
