IL020 Handkerchief Natural Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Light (3.7 oz/yd2), Width 58"
Natural is the earth made, not dyed, color of the flax plant once it is made into thread. No dyes, no bleach. The only thing that impacts the color of the cloth from one production to the next ( if it is more beige or grey) is the amount of sunshine and rain that particular flax harvest had.
At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Perfect for the Riley shirt
I used this to make a Riley shirt and it's just the perfect weight.
This is one of the lightweight linens I bought recently. I have decided I won't wear anything but linen in the future. I just love it and will make a shirt out of it.
I love the drape and feel of linen. It was time to replace a favorite pair of linen slacks which had worn too thin to wear. I chose this IL020 handkerchief fabric in 'softened natural.' I am very pleased with the result and have also created a matching top with the fabric. It is wash and wear, no ironing necessary as far as I am concerned. It always looks neat and is the perfect summer weight material.

in my previous review i mentioned that there were some large strands woven in the fabric (concentrated in one small area) well i ordered 25 more yards of the lightweight linen and the whole piece showed up perfect. im so happy because i really love this linen and im happy that it is soft smooth and consistent in texture. beautiful.
one of my new favourites
this is definitely one of my new favourites (along with med weight mixed natural). i just love the texture of this linen and the colour is just so soothing. it SEEMS a little less sheer than the lighter colour light weight linen..... its prob just due to the fact that it is has more colour. its smooth and fine yet strong. i did find a few really large, lumpy "strands" woven in though. it was concentrated in one area of the linen and im hoping there are none in my next order of this linen. because i will be ordering lots more!

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
