BEET RED Linen's deep crimson burrows through Joan Mitchell's paintings like the roots of an ancient tree, twisting and turning with a live, pulsating energy.
Leader in the second generation of Abstract Expressionists throughout the 1950s, Mitchell pioneered a daring and adventurous approach to painting, allowing wild tangles of paint to become dense networks of fertile color. Landscape was a driving force in her practice but she painted from memory rather than life, responding intuitively to the innate rhythms of nature.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Love this color! Love the half cloak! Tried searching for a half cloak pattern without any success. Any suggestions? I haven't tried Google yet, next step!

Yes this is a beautiful use of this linen and the color is amazing. It is a custom design by the Zan and his team, they used their own pattern.

How colorfast is this beet red linen? Will it bleed in the wash?

You will have some residual dye runoff since this is a saturated color, but after pre-washing for shrinkage, at least 2 washes, there should not be any additional dye bleed.

Such a rich color

Don't let the color name fool you! This is a deep, rich red and it's gorgeous. IL19 linen is such a versatile weight.

So soft and comfortable

Very pleased with the fabric. Not sure as I didn't measure on shrinkage, but with natural fibers I always allow extra just in case. I ordered 2 yards and needed only 1 1/3 for this top, which is a major modification of the Day Dress by the Avid Seamstress. There wasn't a sample listed when I ordered them so I asked in the comments and they kindly sent me a swatch, which turned into my order and this top. Thank you! Will likely use this same fabric base for some slacks soon.

High Quality

The fabric is indeed high quality, but when washed, it shrank from 4 yards to about 3.5 yards.

The beautiful 'beet red' linen for the dress and half cloak and the 'optic white' linen for the apron. Made by Lyn Tayler Lee for 'Era Of Make Believe'.

I don't think we've ever worked with better linen than what we get from Fabric-Store. The team is so incredible and do whatever they can to help our little shop out! The quality of the product and the quality of the customer service is impeccable. We made a run of Dark Queen Fantasy Cloaks out of the midweight Beet Red, and I cannot express how gorgeous the drape is. It is everything we desired for this beautiful cloak! Thank you Fabric-Store! -FellandFair

This fabric is SO soft and comfortable. I converted the Avid Seamstress Day Dress pattern (very snug fitting, seam at waist with dirndl-style skirt and very short sleeves and jewel neck) into the top you see. I will definitely be using this linen again, in a different color, for some new summer slacks.
