ROYAL BLUE linen has the brilliant vibrancy of the Mediterranean Sea as it stretches outwards into an infinite horizon of azure blue. French painter Henri Matisse spent the majority of his life in Nice, where this same limitless blue light filtered into his mind's eye, to be reimagined on canvas as fields of electrifying ultramarine.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

I am looking at this fabric for curtains in a dining room - I don't know is about shrikinage.. Panels would be 101 inchse long and 100 wide...I need to be able to launder them - we live in dusty area - and dry cleaning is just too expensive.. Will also be llining them

This fabric is machine washable and will shrink approximately 7% on a warm gentle wash and low heat dry. We recommend pre-washing prior to sewing.

Not familiar with "heavy weight".... The heavy weight 7.1oz is best for...jackets, coats? Too heavy for pants because it does not drape well? Thank you...Geraldine

The heavyweight linen is great for both structured jackets and also pants. The fabric still has a lovely drape.

Beautiful Quality and Color

I used Fabric-Store linens for ALL my historical costume commissions. I you don't want it to fade, HAND WASH in tepid water. I fill the tub about 5 or 6 inches, let it soak in a mild detergent, then drain, fill the tub again 5 or 6 inches in cold water and add a cup of white vinegar and a 1.2 cup salt and let it soak again. I don't wring it dry, as it causes wrinkles. Strip it with your hands, lay flat and smooth and Air dry. NEVER, EVER machine wash or heat dry. I have costumes I've worn for reenacting for many years and my colors stay beautiful. - Christine (Designs From Time).

Disappointing shade...definately not "Royal" Blue

This is the second time I have ordered this fabric by the bolt. After only one wash, the bolt came out lighter than a true royal blue...it seemed to be missing the red tones that make a true royal blue so brilliant and deep. Very disappointed, invested money on a large project, and both bolts I ordered were disappointing (the heavy black bolt I bought came out faded after only one wash.) Super unhappy.

Love this color!!!

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this color when I bought it because the color varies a bit in the posted pictures. I was worried that it wouldn't be as bright as I wanted it to be. but it's perfect. I really love it. I made tea towels for friends and wish I'd kept some for myself. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous color.

The best yet

First off the blue is miraculous, such vibrancy. It's very regal to me. My heart is as a weaver and I use various deep blues often trying to achieve this blue. The 7.1 weight is nice, a bit sturdier but I wear dresses everyday and am hard on my clothes; one minute I'm cooking the next digging in the garden. This weight is my new favorite. The sewn patch is a scrap from the dresses I see for my grand daughters so I super enjoy choosing and sewing that on. The girls (4) all get excited seeing the patch and remembering the dress.
