Fabric specifications:
Natural is the earth made, not dyed, color of the flax plant once it is made into thread. No dyes, no bleach. The only thing that impacts the color of the cloth from one production to the next ( if it is more beige or grey) is the amount of sunshine and rain that particular flax harvest had.
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.
First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.
This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

Is this a good weight for an alter cloth? How easy is it to iron and how easily does it wrinkle?

Would this fabric work for placemats that have a fringe border?

4C-22 , 7.1 oz is great fabric for upholstery, we also recommend to check IL090, 8oz it's also perfect chose of fabric for upholstery. We offering sample swatches and recommend to order the swatches and check the weight of the fabric.
I plan to make drapes. Can you offer washing instructions and how much shrinkage to expect (width and length)? I plan to was before sewing.

For art 4C-22 we recommend machine wash warm or cool water , chose gentle cycle. Wash similar colors together. Do not overload the washing machine Air drying linen is the best , you also can use dryer at the low heat or air cycle and remove while slightly damp to reduce wrinkles. Please expect shrinkage 7-10% .
I am planning to make a blanket for my king-size bed. Do you sell a wider linen fabric suitable for that size? If not, what do you recommend?

At this time we only selling 58 inches wide fabric . You can check art. 4C-22 7.1oz heavy weight linen or art. IL097 and art. IL098 jacquard , it's a great chose for a blanket. The blanket will be with the seams .

Hello, You may like to try our IL019 mediumweight linen fabric for something a little smoother. Otherwise this fabric behaves well if gesso is applied and then sanded down which will reduce the presence of slubs in the fabric.
Does this natural color contain any dyes?

Hi, would you recommend this for aprons? How well does it wash / stains lifted?

This is an ideal fabric for aprons and can be easily washed at home, for stain removal start with dish soap or a free and clear style stain remover which doesn't have nay optical brighteners as it can discolor the fabric.
Can "Premier Finish" and Softened natural linen still be dyed? Or does the softening process/additive reduce the potency of the fibers accepting dye?

Yes, these can still be dyed just fine, you'll just need to make sure you scour the fabric prior to dyeing.
