Natural is the earth made, not dyed, color of the flax plant once it is made into thread. No dyes, no bleach. The only thing that impacts the color of the cloth from one production to the next ( if it is more beige or grey) is the amount of sunshine and rain that particular flax harvest had.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

Hello, this fabric is the natural flax color, so it can appear greyish in different lights. for something a little lighter in color, please consider the mix natural.

Hi .. I have 15 yards of this wonderful fabric that I ordered from you a bit ago. I'm wondering about two projects. 1) I do aqua-aerobics every morning and I think this would make a great easy to carry and nice rough finish for drying well towel for after my showers at the Club. Do you agree? 2) I would like to make a bedspread or a Duvet cover as well ... any patterns or input of that ? Thank you kindly, holly G

This makes wonderful towels for ANY application, be it home or away. You can't ever go wrong with linen towels. They polish your skin and dry you off quickly, plus the linen fabric is naturally anti-microbal. The linen fabric dries very quickly as well. I have made bedspread and blankets out of linen and there is nothing better in hot weather. I get a tiny bit chilly with my ceiling fan on at night and the linen is the best cover up to keep me from being overheated. I am a complete linen convert and have found so many ways to use it! Good luck!!

How wide is a Linen The Fabric?

Pam • May 28, 2023
Lauren profile image F|S Team

This fabric is 57" wide as listed above in the the fabric specifications.

Lauren • May 28, 2023

The color of the linen is darker than I had expected. I want to dye it a more uplifting color of blue instead of the dark brown if that is possible. Any helpful tips for the process would be very much appreciated.

Is there a pattern for the dish towels?

Sandra • February 4, 2023
Maureen profile image F|S Team

At this time we do not have a tutorial for the dish towels in regular linen. Our in house seamstress would recommend maybe cutting something like 20" x 30" from the washed fabric and hemming. She also recommends using a dish towel you already own as a template to help figure out the best cutting layout based on how many yards you have or will purchase.

is there any way to buy a half yard, like two and a half yards?

Phil • December 6, 2022

Our linen is sold in full yard increments only, unless the item is in the DB section where we sell first quality remnants in various sizes.

Great for Clothes

While many reviewers have only used this fabric for non-clothing items, I like it for clothing. Right now I am using it for a pair of pants (Cutting Line Designs) and it is going very well. Not all of us live in the hot South and a heavier thread can be most welcome around our body. Next, another pair of pants and perhaps a jacket!

Quality and Wearability

This linen is so rough that even after washing it, I'm unable to wear it. After informing customer service about the problem, I was told to wash it (again) with tennis balls to soften the hand. There is so much promotion of their linen being supple, soft and ‘loved' but I'm thoroughly disappointed. I will not buy this linen again unless I wanted to make window coverings with a non-slip surface for my yacht.

I am sorry to hear that the linen is not softening up to your liking. I have sent you a direct email with another solution to see if we can resolve this issue for you.

still sitting in its box folded

I expected it to be shipped on a bolt since i ordered the maximum amount. I was so confused when i saw a small box delivered. I opened the plastic and felt the linen and wanted to cry. I has been reading the nonstop ads my email gets bombed with daily, i waited patiently for this particular linen. To go on sale. I was so excited! From the discriptions it sounded like the same robust french linen i have, and i thought i was getting this incredible heavy rustic natural linen, i was going to make slipcovers for my 18th century couch and wingbacks i was stunned at the thickness, its so thin. If i wash any pf it to see if ot changes im stuck with it.. i went to my curtain and touched my beautiful thick french linen then this stuff. This has to be from china. You get what you pay for dont you.

I used a little less than 8 yards to make a queen size bedspread like one of the online sheet stores sells. I cut one of the 57 inch wide yardage into two halves lengthwise and did flat felled seams on either side with the other 57 inch wide yardage in the center. It's got a nice heft to it and is less than half of a retail linen bedspread. I like the "rustic" look.

The fragrance of this linen transported me to a green field on a summer's day! I wish the fragrance could have stayed, but I washed it and made it into a delightful pair of trousers and a blouse (Style Arc Teddy Designer Pant and Top). Thank you for the beautiful fabric!

Some bread bags I made with this linen. They came out great and they do work for storing bread. Much better than plastic bags. I sewed French seams for a beautiful finished look. These will be used for The Guesthouse as I always leave a lovely breakfast for guests.

Absolutely LOVE this fabric! 4C22 Rustic Natural... minimal shrinkage. I washed in cold water then dried in my dryer & removed when it was slightly damp... & steam ironed the wrinkles right out. I've had this Flex-steel sofa that I love for years & decided to give it a facelift... I removed the skirt, purchased taller legs & Wala... a beautiful new sofa! You won't be disappointed! I'm looking for curtain fabric next! ;)

This rustic linen was perfect for a cross back apron! I used the Miya Apron pattern from TOTOshopUA on Etsy. Love it!

Melissa • August 24, 2022

SO 4C22 NATURAL dyed by hand, cut to measure top, bottom, and trunk body, with an allowance of 1/4 inch, machine serged, and iron pressed before gluing to the trunk. Took 1 hour to dye in hot water. Fabric performed beautifully.

My sisters and I made these aprons out of the 4C22 Natural softened and they turned out so well! It only took us a couple of hours from start to finish. We even put a hemstiched edge on the pockets. This fabric was a perfect weight for aprons. It was so fun to work on this project together.
