IL019 WILDCHERRY Softened - 100% Linen - Middle (5.3 oz/yd2) - 20.00 Yards
Sale price: $206.64 per item (10% off)
With the heady richness of crushed blackberries or port red wine, WILDCHERRY
linen's tart shade of burgundy stained deep into the canvases of
Pre-Raphaelite painter John William Waterhouse, lending them the
dramatic intensity of a stormy romance.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces, this 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

This linen was cut off the bolt nearly perfect! I did pull threads to get the straight grain - but only a quarter inch. I recently bought linen from two other places and both were nearly four inches off grain!!! This means almost losing necessary yardage for a pattern! I was extremely pleased with this cut and this company. I did have an issue with color coming off onto a tangerine batiste that I prewashed this "wild cherry" with. It won't be a problem but I will be careful when I wash the finished garment. Or I may wash it one or two times more before laying out the pattern on the fabric.
I love this fabric. Washed and dried it 3 times to make it as soft as possible and now it has that great softened look that I don't even have to iron. I'm making some cutoff pants.
Easy to sew with, and it washed and ironed very well. Linen is one of my favorite fabrics to sew with due to its versatility and this fabric is no exception.
My son picked this color for SCA clothing we were having made for him. I wasn't sure but he continued to go to this one. When we received the completed clothing from our friend I was surprised at how well this color looked on my son. It is beautiful in person, not too red and not too pink.
I cannot recommend this fabric enough. I love the feel of it and it is a joy to sew on.
I bought some of this about 6 years ago and made a simple historic dress for kitchen and fire pit cooking work. Hard, greasy, hot, rough work. I had to double-wash it once or twice to get rid of kitchen stains (despite use of an apron). It finally started to degrade this year, and it's a sore loss. Washed it most times in cold and hung to dry. Fantastic fabric, long-lasting and very tough!
I haven't sewn this yet, but I've sewn other Fabrics-store linens. They're a fairly dense weave, which makes them more durable. Garments sewn with french seams seem to last forever. I usually avoid pinks and rosy colors. This one is more like a faintly bleached cherry. The color is very versatile. It goes with tans, khakis, blacks, neutral greys, and many dark blues and purples.
I'm not a pink person at all, and look terribly in cherry reds. This deep rose color is just fantastic! I bought it for a Viking apron dress and plan to embroider on it. It has enough red and purple that it looks plausible as a period color, and it's not so dark that I couldn't use just about any color to embroider (And as we now know, the Vikings loved their color!) Can't wait to make this dress.
I was looking for a color for a 14th century dress. I could not resist when I saw this color. The color in person is better than the picture. I am really pleased with IL019 Wildcherry.
Custom-designed medieval dress. I love the rich colour of this shade - it's not quite purple, but not pink either. I've been wearing it to larp events regularly for almost a year, and it gets dragged through grass, dirt, snow, and mud, it gets stepped on, and I even occasionally roll around on the grass in it. It's standing up very well to the abuse, and is hands down my favourite dress!
I used Wild Cherry for this apron dress (part of a line I designed). The fabric was a dream to work with - perfect balance of body/drape. And the color is perfect - not quite purple, and blends nicely with the other earthy tones I used for the line. I found it to be true to the color swatch online. I would highly recommend this linen.

I made Simplicity #8553 view C to go along with my new handmade faux silk pajama set. This robe also can double as a dress.

I used this beautiful fabric to make a maternity dress. The color, weight and the drape are all perfect. I can tell it will be my favorite piece to wear in the last months of my pregnancy. So relaxing and comfortable!

This is nice weight for any garment when you want some body without stiffness. Gorgeous color, it's even richer in person!

This is absolutely gorgeous linen! So soft, but firm and not wimpy, with a depth of colour you just have to see in person. I made this smock dress for my online store.

18th century petticoat. Pleated with waistband and strings. Completely hand sewn.
