Moody, sombre and filled with suspense, the silvery blue tone in REED linen was entrancing for British painter Walter Richard Sickert, allowing him
to convey scenes lit by a soft, diffused light. From the murky waters
and metallic skies of Venice to delicate, intimate interiors, Sickert
conveyed a spectrum of subjects with this color throughout his career,
filling his work with a quiet, ghostly sense of anticipation.
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Winter dress.
I love wearing this linen. It is easy to sew, once you get the hang of it. It finally went on sale so I could get this color. Seems much bluer in the outside light, dustier color than appears. Love shopping with Fabrics-store.com. Excellent customer service.
4C22 Reed is a wonderful color. Used two yards to make a large bath sheet. Linen dries so much quicker than terry cloth towels.

the color is identical to the color on the site. It's a gorgeous dusty blue. my only complaint? I wish I ordered more of it when it was on sale. hehe
The heavy weight linen in Blue Bayou was even better than I expected. The color was perfectly consistent throughout and it was easily manageable in the sewing process. It forms crisp lines when pressed and I barely used any pins or clips because it doesn't slide around when going through the machine. I have worn these pants several times without needing to wash them. They hold up well in the wash and they have that glorious rumpled texture after laundering. I love this fabric.
My first time sewing with 4C22. I like it a lot - made a coat I can wear in the winter in the south. I shortened the FS free pattern Mara painter's coat 12", eliminated the breast pocket & vent, and sewed with French seams. Pattern and instructions (tutorial) are great!
Love this color Reed. Love this 7.1 weight for winter. It handles so well to sew. I am so glad there is a place to buy quality linen at lesser pricing. Their customer service is very personal, they work at having happy customers.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
