4C22 Rustic Graphite Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Heavy (7.1 oz/yd2) - 20.00 Yards, Width 57"
Master of understated elegance, Japanese printmaker Ando Hiroshige's dreamy, wistful landscapes are filled with the sleek and refined grey of GRAPHITE Linen.
In his quietly pensive scenes rich, warm grey tones become the solid mass of enduring trees, craggy rocks and distant mountains, iconic emblems that are built to last.
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
Would you consider this a charcoal color. More on black then brown.
Yes, this is a charcoal color without brown undertones
I plan to make a cover for my sofa. Should I wash the fabric first?
Yes, we recommend pre-washing your fabric.
What % shrinkage should I allow for when machine washing this fabric Rustic Linen before cutting. NOTE: I usually use cold water. Thanks...Patti Woods
You should allow for a 7-10 percent shrinkage based on our recommended instructions which are a cool to warm water wash with a tumble dry low heat. You will find a more detailed response here support.fabrics-store.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000218543-Linen-Care-Pre-washing-and-Washing-your-Linen
What is a linen best used for aprons
Any of our medium to heavyweight linen fabrics are great for aprons.
I bought just a yard of this for a small project. Washed in cold, tumbled on low, but removed from dryer while still damp. I noticed the fold line was still there, even after washing & now steam pressed. If I had planned to use this for a garment, I would say it's unusable, as the crease is very noticeable, sadly. I don't know what happened. This isn't my first purchase & haven't experienced this problem before.
I was worried that heavyweight linen would be too heavy for a comfortable dress. I didn't need to worry, because it is so soft, with a beautifully weighted drape that is super cozy! Graphite is a perfect deep, neutral gray, sort of a muted charcoal color. Love it!!
I bought 1 yard so I could compare it to 4C22 Asphalt. Both are lovely, but for a slipcover, Asphalt won out. I will love using this for something else. It's rugged but has nice body. This weight will be perfect for a pair of slacks, pillow covers, or a slipcover.
Love this fabric! Ordered quite a few times. Making small tote bags for my Etsy shop, got a lot of nice reviews! You can check them at Etsy ChooseLinen.
Requested samples shipped fast, final choice Graphite Gray arrived quickly. Everything nicely packaged, great communication, gorgeous fabric. Becoming a large custom shade for a floor lamp. It's going to be beautiful! Thank you - excellent experience!
I bought 3 yards of this to make dish towels to give as gifts (and some for myself of course.). I also bought 3 yards of this weight in natural so I can give one of each. So far have made 6 towels and can't wait to do a little embroidery on them to make even more special gifts. I found this to be the perfect weight for the towels, soft with a nice drape.
The graphite linen is absolutely beautiful! Such nice quality!
This was my first time working with linen and I love it. Can't wait to do more. I made 15 Cross Back Aprons for a niece that needed them for her business. I first ordered a lighter linen which did not work so then I ordered the heavier linen. I prewashed and allowed for 3 inches of shrinking per yard. It washed wonderfully and came out so soft yet still sturdy enough to make an apron that should last for years. It has just enough weight to hold a pocket that doesn't sag. I'm looking forward to using more linen.
This is only my third project made from linen and it is the easiest fabric to work with. The weight of the heavy weight graphite was perfect for my daughters needs. I can't wait to make something else from linen.
I've been working with linen from fabrics-store.com for a few years now and I'm never disappointed. This Grey is perfect for shadow cloaks, that my LARP friends want. This particular cloak was a wedding cloak. The folkwear pattern was a bear, but the fabric was as forgiving as a lamb. The hand work was much easier than I had expected. This is a beautiful color, paired with the Dove Gray it was a beautiful accent to her wedding.
I made a pair of overalls out of this fabric. I was a little afraid when it first came because the material was quite stiff and almost canvas-like. I went ahead and washed it, hoping that would solve the problem and it did! It's sturdy but soft, just the right weight for pants. The linen gets lovelier with each wash and these overalls are so comfortable!!!
