Agustina — Boxy Top Pattern, Type - PDF

Description:

Agustina is a simple and slightly cropped boxy top with round neckline and cuff sleeves. And sometimes simple is best. An ideal beginner sewing project, this top sews up in just a couple of hours and requires very little fabric. We chose to make this top in our gauzy open weave linen that has a unique slightly sheer look making it ideal for summer.

Such a great basic pattern, it's guaranteed to become one of your favorites. Plus, it lends itself to so many simple hacks to make it your very own. You can lengthen the hem and turn it into a dress, or transform cuffs into long sleeves, or add a belt.

I might be missing something obvious but no matter how I lay it out, 1 yard is not enough to cut all of the pieces on the grain. Can anyone help me visualize how this works? Thanks!

Rather than folding your fabric in half with the selvedges meeting, open out your fabric flat then fold the selvedges into the middle of the fabric. This will give you two folds to place your pattern pieces for the front and back :)

Love this top

Very easy make and looks great on me. I have four -- linen, crinkle double gauze, and a checked cotton.

Ideal Linen Tee

This is lightweight Meadow linen. I hacked it a bit by widening neckline 4" and pleats front and back. I added 1" to length and didn't use cuffs. Really love it and will make another soon.

love it

i started out with one and decided that, on me, it looked better without the sleeve cuffs. i make a bias tape out of bright, colorful cotton material for the collar and sleeves to give it a little pop! so easy to make and alter or decorate according to your needs and tastes. every time there is a doggie bag sale on one yarders, i'm there, looking for yet another color that i don't have! :)

Easy, well-constructed top!

I made this ox 18/20 per my measurements and it was huge. I remade in the 14/16 and it fits my shoulders perfectly! I'm going to try doing a higher front and lower back on my next version! I'm enjoying learning new skills!

Great potential pattern

I made this pattern based on my usual size, but added a couple of inches to the bottom. The sleeves were fine until I added the "cuff" and then they were very tight. I had made it from a scrap of challis as a wearable toile. I plan to try it again in mid-weight linen, adding the length, enlarging the cuff, adding bust darts and hacking a v-neckline. I think it has great potential for embroidery, pintucks, color blocking etc. I am long-waisted, and the extra length is perfect. Good pattern, just needs some adjusting for my "old-lady" tummy! My husband loved it and asked if it was one of the designer patterns I had been sewing. He was surprised to learn it was a freebie!

Very easy pattern. the steps are explained in detail. I changed the pattern slightly as I upcycled some fabric left from previous projects. And I love the way it looks. I have been thinking of making something like this in which I can use 2 different fabrics. And it was a great success. Thank you for the free pattern. I am planning to do some more. I

IL041in Fog, premier finish. This fabric is very sheer (but I wear a camisole with it) and frays easily, so I made French seams for most of the seams and enclosed the raw edges in the neckline (per instructions) and the armholes (similar to neckline) so nothing could fray. Gorgeous color. Beautiful flow. Looks like an Eileen Fisher top but better because I made it.

Agustina top in IL020 silver lilac softened. I love this color and the fabric drapes so beautifully.

Ice-dyed linen (by fellow poster, Nancy!) turned out to be a cool-as-hell top. Beginner sewer here who followed the Fabrics-Store tutorial (blog.fabrics-store.com/2019/06/25/agustina-boxy-top-tutorial/) and loves the result! Will be making more!

Love this top. Made it from 50cm of cotton sateen. It's a crop shirt so a little short and I might lengthen it a bit next time. Thank you so much for the free pattern!
