At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

Since this fabric has been preshrunk, does it still need to be prewashed prior to garment making?

Yes, This fabric still has very minimal shrinkage left in the fabric, so it is advisable to pre-wash.
I love linen. I'm making a linen quilt. I have made many, many quilts for family, friends, & donations but, never a linen one. It will be a while before I get to it. This fabric I purchased will be the back of my quilt. The fabric is beautiful & can't wait to get started.

Linen for Tina Givens patterns
I bought several colors of linen for my Tina Givens patterns. They are all in the medium weight, and I love all the colors I got. I would like for Fabrics-Store to say if the color is for a warm or cool skin tone, especially the greens and browns. I washed them all in the machine, machine dried (but not bone dry) and they are all fine, ready to press and cut out my patterns. I also appreciate that they come wrapped in plastic, for the chance that it is raining when the delivery leaves on the front porch.
Sewing as Therapy
I am pleased with every piece of linen that I have ordered. I love the variety of textures and colors. I am disabled and sewing is my outlet for expressing my creativity and need to be productive. I even use the plastic bag that the fabric comes in. I cut it open and trace patterns on it. When the box arrives in good shape, I can cover it with fabric, not my good linen, to make a storage piece. Although I think I think that the shipping cost is high, I am satisfied with everything about the Fabric Store.

Essentially cool/warm delicate to normal wash, and low heat setting on your dryer. The linen I used has a beautiful TURQUOISE shade that really shines in the light, and has a great balance that feels neither sheer or heavy. It's also very soft and easy to work with.
A simple linen dress with pleats gently shaping the front, showcasing wonderful handmade ceramic buttons with dragonflies painted on them. I've had the buttons for some years; the fabric was a perfect match.

Beautiful fabric. My first project using this linen and the Cara Pattern from your site. I wasn't sure of my size so I ended up making it too large. When finished I put a pleat in each shoulder to narrow it down and cut the neck line deeper, then added the buttons. Next one I'll make a few inches longer and probably no pockets or at least smaller. I'm 5'3" and shorter on my left side so it takes some tweaking. It gets better and better and is now my favorite!

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
