British painter Patrick Heron might just be one of the finest colorists of the entire 20th century. From his early days as a semi-figurative painter to his mature, pure abstraction, color was always the defining principle that shaped the very nature of his art.

He dived headfirst into the intensity of color, working with the most shocking shades of blazing pink like SANGRIA, juxtaposing it with unusual contrasts like brick reds or ultramarine blue, forest green or dark violet, paying close attention to how each could cause sonorous, visual vibrations in the eye of the viewer.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

How much will it shrink if washed in cold water and tumbled dry on heat?

We have calculated the maximum shrinkage on a cool/warm gentle wash and low heat dry at 7% on the length and width.

What a color!

I am writing this review to talk about the color. This looks rich red online and I love reds. I bought a doggie bag remnant and will sort out a tunic-type top to make to wear with jeans/leggings. The color -- one of my favorites of fabric-store linens so far -- is not "red" but instead is a rich deep fuscia. I would classify this as a pink on the deep dark pink spectrum. I have extremely pale white skin and now have stark Snow White hair -- pasty white I am. I like to wear pure bright colors. This is superb in that regard. It is not neon-in-your-face fuscia bright; it is rich deep pink fuscia. And it is truly a "deep" color. As for the weight (19), it is just right for tops to wear with jeans and leggings. I have bought scads of doggie bag pieces (1.5 to 2.0 yards to make tops) and cut yardage as well. Once I discovered this linen store I can't seem to get enough. It is beautiful to sew, washes/irons so nicely (or leave un-ironed for that rumpled linen look which is fine). The only problem I have is finding proper thread colors to sew some of these delicious unique colored fabrics. Usually my Bernina/quilt store comes to the rescue.
