A decorative interpretation of the Arboreal motif made up of entwined foliage, flowers, acorns, and berries in the Natural - Rose color way.
The engineering of this cloth allows the Jacquard to be read equally well from either side - you have a reversible fabric that changes its dominant color scheme depending on what side you pick.
Lying in a haphazard pile at a Parisian flea market was all that remained of a glorious collection of textiles that once graced the halls and environs of Loire castle.
The remnant was pulled from that pile and brought to our studio where we were able to translate the complexity of design and texture to the Jacquard loom, and the 100% linen Loire Collection was created exclusively for F|S.com.
The different weaving techniques utilized to create this fabric make it 3-dimensional - you have a textured cloth that communicates the motif visually and tactilely.
The intricacy of the design permits the cloth to be used in any direction, with the motif maintaining its representation regardless of the angle.
This cloth is 61 inches wide, delicate to the touch, and a heavy weight to last generations.
Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

How many yards will I need to make 12 dinner napkins?

If you cut your fabric 20" x 20" then hem, you will need 2.5 yards. We sell our fabric in one yard increments so 3 yards will will give you extra fabric for a runner or spare napkins.
I was surprised how soft and drapey this fabric is. There are some areas of the pattern that are more loosely woven. The pattern shows less in the rose because there is less contrast with the natural. But it is gorgeous on the table.
I bought the IL098 Loire in Natural/Wild Rose to make a bath robe. For preshrinking and softening, I sewed the fabric into a tube using an overlock stitch to minimize fraying, then washed 1 time in hot and tumble dried on medium. The resulting fabric has a lovely raised texture. The background is not puckered and the high areas are not overly high. The hand is remarkably soft for a linen. Overall the fabric drapes beautifully, but is VERY prone to fraying. Due to the risk of fraying and the weight of the fabric of the fabric itself pulling on the seams, I chose to overlock each seam, press over and cover with natural linen twill tape. With proper seam finishes, I believe this fabric is suitable for heirloom quality projects.

I was inspired by the tablecloth posted in blue. I got 2-1/2 yards doggie bag, evened up the cut edges, and hemmed 3/4 inch all around. I tried to show the drape on the corner. The fabric is easy to work with, softer than expected, and the perfect weight for this.
I wanted this for placemats for my daughter. She is moving into a new house, and these will be lovely for her. The napkins are 019 Lilas. They coordinate nicely.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
