The Natural color in this fabric is the earth made color of flax when it has been retted and woven into thread. No dyes, no bleach. The only thing that impacts the color of the cloth from one production to the next ( if it is more beige or grey) is the amount of sunshine and rain that particular flax harvest had.

At a heavier weight of 10.2 ounces this 59 inch wide Natural linen really shows the texture and linen characteristics giving you a linen that is perfect for projects needing that extra weight and durability.

Can this linen be overdyed a different color? I'd like to do a blue. Are there any particular dyes you would recommend?

I will send the information we have on dyeing linen directly to the email we have on file.

I've had linen for many years. Below the washed linen appears like seersucker NOT linen. I'm concerned it's Not 100% linen, I wash my linen and it has no lint, nor does it pucker. I'm looking for a large amount and need to be assured this is what it says. I would be most grateful for FS help with my concerns. Kind Regards, J.

This is 100% linen and the pictures show it washed and unwashed so it would depend on what you are using it for and if you are going to launder it. I would recommend ordering a yard to test to make sure it works for your project before you purchase a large amount, just to be sure.

Perfect Slipcover for Dogs

I always like to wait a while before I leave reviews so I can gauge how fabric holds up over time. This natural linen has only gotten better! We have dogs so my slipcover gets washed frequently and it's becoming softer with time. I prewashed and dried the linen before I made the slipcover but I have never bothered to iron it. It was a bit wrinkled the first time through the wash but I certainly have no issues with wrinkles now. I also have a couple of chairs that are upholstered in this linen. I left it unwashed for upholstery and they look great!

Sturdy

Yes, it wrinkles & I think that's part of the aesthetic of this particular linen. I like the way it looks & how durable it is. Perfect for tote bags & aprons!

Mounted on plywood

I purchased two yards, as an experiment, to see if I could find a cheaper way to have canvas to mount on plywood to paint on. on Amazon, for a pack of 3 24x24 cotton canvas panels cost $65.99. I bought 2 yards of 10.1 oz linen canvas fabric here, $21.00 ( I forgot to use my discount) and I can get 6 24x24 panels, plus a good bit left over for mounting on odd pieces of plywood. Yes, it is natural colour, but white gesso would take care of that. I still have the lovely colour which I will not cover with white, but with transparent mix of Elmers Glue-All, water and calcium carbonate powder. If I can figure out how to attach pictures of the finished ( not yet painted on) mounted canvas I will....drlucille

Makes great bath towels (and other things)

This fabric makes very absorbent bath towels. I made two, and am about to buy fabric to make more. If you are used to Terry towels, linen feels different, of course, but I reach for these towels first. I have also made a throw and kitchen towels. Would also make a great tote. Sturdy. This fabric is thicker than most linen and wrinkles (in a great way) - just know what you are getting, and you will be happy with it. I wash in warm or hot water and then throw in dryer.

I used this fabric for a rugged touch on a fun outdoorsy set! Both the pullover and the shorts are available made-to-measure on my website, charliedarwintextiles.com

I purchased 3 yards of 1L095 in Natural to upholster the seat and back of this antique settee. I needed to match the color of the antique German grain sack I also used for this piece so when the fabric arrived it was just a bit more on the gray side rather than a warm brown which I needed. I tea stained this beautiful heavy linen and it came out amazingly close to the color I was matching. I loved working with this linen. It was the perfect choice for upholstery. The settee is currently for sale on my Facebook business page: facebook.com/profile.php?id=100087347349980
