IL090 Rough Mix Natural Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Very Heavy (8 oz/yd2), Width 57"
The Natural color thread in this fabric is the earth made color of flax when it has been retted and woven into thread. No dyes, no bleach. The only thing that impacts the color of the cloth from one production to the next ( if it is more beige or grey) is the amount of sunshine and rain that particular flax harvest had.
Bleached linen color thread is made by "stripping" the natural color out of flax ( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Mix Natural color is achieved with one bleached thread and one natural color thread interwoven together. As a result - you have a grey toned natural color that is a great compliment to all other colors.
A 57 inch wide heavier linen weighing 8.1 ounces it is referred to as canvas weight , this linen is perfectly suited for projects that require a sturdier yet still fashionable linen.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
What is the country of origin?
Our fabrics are grown and milled across Europe and are Okeo-Tex Certified.
Can you tell me how this compares to the linen used by RH or Cisco? Is it heavy enough to wear well on a regularly used sofa?
We recommend getting a sample of the linen so you can feel it in person and compare it to linens you already own.
Would this fabric be durable enough for a slipcover for a family room sofa that gets fairly heavy use? It's a beautiful fabric - would love to use it!
Yes, this is a lovely sturdy fabric for a slip cover that is going to get a lot of love.
Do you recommend washing even for curtain application?
If you will be washing your curtains going forward then yes you will want to wash before sewing to remove the shrinkage.
would you recommend this or the 4C22 for a duvet cover? I have used the IL019 for a duvet and like it but I was looking for something a little heavier for my current project. I have used 4C22 for curtains and was leaning toward it but I don't know if you'd recommend one over the other for a duvet as far as durability and feel.
Perfect choice for the duvet if you are wanting a linen with a bit more substance. Since you have worked with the 4C22 you are aware of the extra texture which adds to the beauty of the linen. Durable and like all of our linens with wash and use the feel only gets better.
I'm looking for a linen that has a "wide gauge". Would heavy duty linens like this be considered wide gauge?
Description says there been a softener added. What do you use to soften the fabric? Is it a process to soften or a chemical based fabric softener? Thanks!
We use a non toxic silicone softener that has passed the standard 100 Oeko-Tex process.
would this be suitable for drapes? I wanted to use in an east facing bedroom and plan to line them. Thanks!
Yes very much so, if you scroll a bit further down the page you will see some visuals of this linen made into drapes.
Would this fabric be suitable for a love seat slip cover?
Absolutely! You can even go with medium-weight linen for slipcovers if you plan to wash them regularly.
I am looking to purchase this material because I want a 100% natural material. I want to use this fabric as a table cloth and napkins. What do you use to soften the material? Is the added softener you use ok to be around food and ok for people to wipe their face with it? Thank you
We use a silicone softener that is applied to the linen to give it a smooth hand. This linen with softener has passed the Oeko-Tex standard 100 certification process. The Oeko-Tex organization tests our products for over 100 harmful chemicals and toxins before approving them for public use. Our linens, including this one, are widely used for home decor items such as napkins as well as bread, market and vegetable bags without issue .
Absolute Beauty! The Natural Color and Texture, the Natural Sheen of the Linen, everything about this piece, is Simply Exquisite! It is far More Beautiful than what the computer screen can convey! The softness is remarkable! Bedding, Sheets are my first choice for this. But Anything! would be Superior, in every way, made of this Cloth!!
Mix natural is my favorite linen from fabrics-store. The not so subtle texture and color variation makes for eye catching garments and furnishings. A perfect blend of structure and drape. This weight is perfect for slip covers.
Wow! This Fabric is something to Behold! Exquisite hand! Soft and Drapey with Substantial Body, and a Beautiful Sheen! All Natural Beauty! What a Gorgeous piece of goods!
I had slipcovers made for 8 chairs and had 2 captain chairs upholstered. I get compliments on them all the time.
I took a piece of leftover fabric from my towel making and cut it up in rectangles to make lovely kitchen towels. With the remainder, I had 12 x 12 squares and hemmed them to make some washcloths to try out. Wonderful! I really like these and may have to order enough additional fabric to make a set for our home. These would be great in the kitchen also but I love showering with them..perfect washcloths for the shower and my skin feels extra clean and polished! These are wonderful and will last for many years. Linen is an incredible fabric and I love using it in my daily life! My sewing machine grumbled a bit when I sewed the corners of these but with gentle guidance, it is possible to quickly construct my washcloths and towels.
