Darkness pervades Tacita Dean's artworks, falling over craggy rocks and epic mountains into inky, bottomless wells. BLACK Linen shares Dean's endless black, a colour that intensifies mystery and drama, cloaking and concealing everything it touches.

A 57 inch wide heavier linen weighing 8.1 ounces it is referred to as canvas weight , this linen is perfectly suited for projects that require a sturdier yet still fashionable linen.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Delivery a problem

The most recent order was delivered down at the end of my very long driveway, out of sight behind a gate. Not cool!! It took me days to notice it and retrieve it.

Great fabric for a suit jacket

I made a suit jacket from this fabric: Has a nice hand, retained its colour after pre-washing, doesn't wrinkle much. Great quality fabric for such a low price!

A delight to work with

I was worried that this fabric might be just a bit too tight after laundering, but it wasn't. Truth be told, it was just tight enough that there was very little fray, and I was still able to easily manipulate corners, etc... I used it to make a men's suitcoat. The tiny places (where pocket welts are pulled through to the back, for example) can be a disaster if the weave doesn't have some substance. Cold water wash and HOT dry, and the lush blackness is still lush blackness. A WONDERFUL fabric, in every respect:)

Self drafted pattern with elastic waist, high rise, side pockets. Love these! Experimenting with hem length...

It was a pleasure to work with this fabric. I laundered it twice (I don't intend on machine washing a suit coat, so I didn't do my usual four linen washes); it hardly wrinkles at all, and it retained its colour! Has a nice hand and is a great weight for a three-season suit. Probably would not go any lighter for a tailored jacket--this, however was perfect.

Ideal fabric for suitcoat! Laundered well, held its rich color, and the weave tightened JUST enough to make the fabric stable to work with. What a pleasure:)
