IL083 937 Fs Premier Finish - 100% Linen - Very Heavy (9 oz/yd2)
Yarn Dyed 100% linens are made using linen threads that are dyed separately before being woven. This allows for a large variety of patterns and designs that stand out from the base fabric color.
Part of our Luxury Linen Collection this group is a heavier canvas weight linen in Natural and Ivory tones. Available in 2 classic patterns that can coordinate with each other and our other heavier natural canvas linens.
Completing the luxurious look and feel is our exclusive "Premier Finish" which is smooth, agreeable to the senses and that perfect final touch that enhances the beauty of these exceptional linen yarn dyes.
The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.
First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.
This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

Super fabric for bedroom pillow sham
The Doggie Bag section of Fabrics-Store is a great place to score already cut lengths of fabric at a discount. I am committed to reducing my social and environmental footprint in my sewing practice as well so I opted to use fabric from the Doggie Bag section as it is in keeping with my belief in sustainability. I have purchased and sewn with Fabrics-Store linen in prior projects as I only sew with natural fibers for my garments.
I bought this because I am in need of a small piece of canvas. I assumed when I saw the word canvas that would be what I got. Canvas is a type of very strong, hard wearing, closed weave fabric that happens to be heavy. It's not just a term for a weight of fabric. This fabric might weigh as much as canvas (which I doubt) but it's not canvas. The weave isn't right and it's too open. I even tried shrinking it but the weave still didn't tighten up. This just isn't strong enough for my needs. To send it back would cost about what I paid for it so I'll keep it. It's pretty but just not good for applications where strength is required. I'll be more careful what I order in the future.
I couldn't figure out why this fabric was so expensive so I ordered a half yard when I found it in the doggie bag. I have had to check the tag several times to reassure myself that it was the right stuff. I have other fabrics from this store that are called "canvas" and recommended for upholstery but this is nothing like that. It is very soft, has the most luxurious feel and drapes wonderfully. The weave is much looser than 4C22, so while the threads may be the same thickness, this one is airy and not as heavy but still has a great weight. It is ideal for a light jacket. It pairs perfectly with natural and bleached linen so I will probably use it for a shawl collar on a natural swing jacket. It is a great basic plaid for reenactors, too! Its open weave makes it especially prone to unravelling so that is a consideration when sewing. If it were in plain colors it would be ideal for hemstitching and draw work.
