IL073 Narrow Width 971 - 100% Linen Fabric - Very Heavy (9.1 oz/yd2), Width 19"
This is a 19" wide canvas weight cloth.
Woven out of thick, short staple, linen thread - this fabric is made to scrunch up after the wash and dry. It shrinks about 18% on the weft of the fabric ( widthwise) and 16% of the warp of the fabric ( lengthwise). This gives it the needed density for home textiles.
At a canvas weight of 9.1 ounces a square yard this 100% linen is a fabulous utilitarian fabric that you will love for its simple rustic beauty and strength. Items made from this fabric will wear like iron and last decades.
Yarn Dyed fabrics are made using threads that are dyed separately before being woven. This allows for a large variety of patterns and designs that stand out from the base fabric color.
Narrow width cloth is great for:
- Shopping bags
- Purses
- Placemats
- Runners
- Decorative pillows
- Kitchen towels
- Appliance covers
- Potholders
- Cushions

Customer Questions and Answers
Will you be getting any more IL073 in? Or is it being phased out?
This fabric is one of our signature fabrics, so we aren't phasing it out, we're just waiting for our next shipment. We have an estimate for the end of June, but this hasn't been confirmed as yet. Please keep checking back on the site and our emails for notifications of the restock :)
What would you say the color is? Thank you!
It is an orange red shade.
Wondering if Robin would share where she found her pattern for the fabulous orange grocery/shopping bags she made... I would love to make the exact same ones. If it isn't a pattern but something she "made up" herself, would she share the dimensions and is there a bottom flat piece that folds up inside? Thank you!
I'm sorry it took me so long to see this post. I have written up instructions for the canvas shopping bags I made. It's my first attempt at writing a pattern, so I hope it makes sense. Here's the link to the pattern. drive.google.com/file/d/180yR7xFfrajUnhRGy0YkVIY4aJGUX8B7/view?usp=sharing
Sorry, it was Danette who posted the beautiful orange and beige shopping bags!
We hope she sees this inquiry and responds, but if not we have a few tutorials posted on our blog that may work for you. blog.fabrics-store.com/?s=Tote&post_type=post
I can't wait for this item to be restocked. It arrived very rough, very heavy, and initially seemed like it wouldn't be a good choice for the towels I had planned. I forged ahead, once it was cut, sewn, &. washed it is PERFECT. I regret not buying more and I want this weight in every color and width!
Awesome colors
I love this fabric. But a word of caution, I found it to shrink about 25% on the left & 20% on the warp. Still a great fabric & I will buy more
I made kitchen towels with this. The more you use and wash them, the better. Beware of shrinkage and they do require ironing to straighten out after being washed. I started making bigger pieces and use them to line top of the granite countertop in certain areas to protect it from being hit and scratched. The color is cheerful, very pretty. I've bought several rounds of this fabric and made towels for friends as gifts. They all love it.
I made a table runner for fall. I loved the color but found it harder to work with. Very crinkled after washing but was able to iron. I think I will try making some dish cloths and dish towels??
Purchased 1.5 yards to make 2 dish towels. Size before washing —. 19.5 by 26 inches. After one warm wash — 15 by 21.5. Shrinkage resulted in lots of surface texture; in hand weaving we call this tracking. Makes for a finished cloth with lots of character!
did not pre-wash- will do that next time as predicted there is shrinkage... it is the best fabric for polishing stainless steel, glass etc... plus it is gorgeous once washed - gorgeous unwashed too but better after some hot water and dryer!
This fabric is so beautiful! I made placemats and got so many compliments. The fabric is very heavy and perfect for placemats or table runner. I will buy this again. -Frances
Made bar towels from this fabric. Very farmhouse!
I really love this fabric for dish towels. It is very textured and dense which I really like but some may not. Really great absorption and feels great on the hands.
