This linen is a heavier rustic natural that comes in one solid and various colored stripe patterns, narrow in width for specialty projects such as placemats, napkins, table runners, bath towels, bath and kitchen accessories even apparel and so much more. This is a 19" wide canvas weight cloth.
Woven out of thick, short staple, linen thread - this fabric is made to scrunch up after the wash and dry. It shrinks about 18% on the weft of the fabric ( widthwise) and 16% of the warp of the fabric ( lengthwise). This gives it the needed density for home textiles.
At a canvas weight of 9.1 ounces a square yard this 100% linen is a fabulous utilitarian fabric that you will love for its simple rustic beauty and strength. Items made from this fabric will wear like iron and last decades.
Yarn Dyed fabrics are made using threads that are dyed separately before being woven. This allows for a large variety of patterns and designs that stand out from the base fabric color.

I made three extra long kitchen towels out of this fabric. After the pre-wash and machine drying it was still quite stiff and lifeless. But after I've used them for a few weeks, with repeated washing/drying it has softened tremendously. It's very absorbent and dries our dishes, pots and pans without a lot of effort. I'm tempted to make more towels and aprons with this fabric.
I bought this fabric not knowing what to expect. I have always loved the fabric I have purchased here. This fabric came beautifully packaged. I washed and dried it two times. I intended to cut the salvages off and fray the fabric, but after washing it they became ruffly looking. I kept them on and everyone that saw it had a positive comment. "Oh, I can't believe it ruffled" etc. I then hemmed it. It is a beautiful weight for a table runner and will roll up so easily. I embroidered large Jacobean Shamrocks to put on each end with a cream linen. Then frayed the end. Oh, they look so beautiful. Thank you for quality fabric.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
