POINSETTIA Linen's full-bodied richness can breathe passionate, fiery life into the colours around it, igniting in them an electrifying, energising heat. For American born painter R.B. Kitaj this colour became a symbol of rebellious defiance, a statement of unflinching strength and determination.

At 5.1 ounces this Open Weave 57 inch wide linen has a unique slightly sheer look and feel that sets it apart from other medium weight linens. Open weave does not make it less durable or versatile, just loosely woven.

This linen should be laundered in a cold wash-tumble dried on air setting or very low heat--line dry if possible.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Not what I expected.

The weave on this was too loose to work for what I intended.

Not soft

I bought this to make a caftan for my mom and it's essentially nice burlap. The red color is dark but you can still see through this because of the very loose weave. Washing didn't do anything to help make it softer or less see through it it did leave a fist full of lint in my washer and then threw fist fills of lint in my dryer. So unhappy with this purchase since the listing said it was appropriate for garments. It's only appropriate if you don't mind wearing burlap.

Hello, We're sorry you didn't enjoy this fabric. Being an 'Open Weave' fabric, this means the fabric is designed to be loosely woven or 'open' so it will be see-through. As to the softness, this fabric has a softener applied to it and will soften with repeated washing and wearing when following our recommended washing instructions. Please look out for an email from us, we'd like to make this right.

Poinsettia linen

I was disappointed with this . Very coarse and would not have made a good scarf. ,In fairness I have been happy with all the other linen I have purchased.

IL041 isn't as rough as burlap and it's not as smooth as supima cotton. It falls somewhere in between. I washed is using a Frankincense and Myrrh laundry soap (not a detergent) by Indigo Wild. (I have no affiliation with the company!) This soap uses essential oils and softens the fabric. Plus, when a customer opens the box and unwraps a shawl, there's a faint scent of something magical.

Sewed this beach cover-up using the free Fabrics-Store pattern Antonia. Its winter for me right now, so it's working as a great throw over dress for a tee and leggings.

Stunning fabric and perfect for a beach cover-up, or something to throw over a tee and leggings. The fabric is smooth and drapey and has gotten softer with each wash.

My daughter is wearing a shawl I made with this Poinsettia linen. On each end, I added a wide band of an Australian Aboriginal print depicting the dancing Goddess Barnumbirr as Venus the Morning Star. The background of the print is red and plays beautifully against the Poinsettia linen. A person wouldn't have to know anything about the cosmic connection to appreciate the art of the print and the movement of the shawl.
