IL041 Open Weave Optic White Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.01 oz/yd2), Width 57"
At 5.1 ounces this Open Weave 57 inch wide linen has a unique slightly sheer look and feel that sets it apart from other medium weight linens. Open weave does not make it less durable or versatile, just loosely woven.
This linen should be laundered in a cold wash-tumble dried on air setting or very low heat--line dry if possible.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

I purchased this fabric for making shawls( as advertised), but was very disappointed. After washing and drying it was still very stiff&scratchy for a shawl. It saws beautifully, but in my eyes it makes great simple picnic towel or a table runner. Might be great for curtains.I definitely have to repurpose both "shawls" to something mentioned above. The weave is open(just like burlap) and can make nice rustic table cloth or a base for a certain type of embroidery, as well! I, personally, do not know who will love this as shawl because of it's stiffness. However, if you like a bit of massage for your skin, go for it! I recommend 11/2 yard for the length of a shawl, a yard is too short.

Followed the blog instructions for 2 scarfs - easy to make. The fabric is not as soft as I anticipated but hope that it will ease up upon continued use.
I ordered 2 yards of the ILO41 to give it a try. I made two tasseled scarves similar to what was shown in the blog and I think they are just beautiful. After washing this linen it truly has an ethereal look. So romantic. I need to make more of these but I will use 2 1/2 yards for extra length after the shrinkage that occurs in the wash. Love this fabric!
This is such beautiful fabric. I love white linen blowing in an open window on a summer day. Perfect.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
