IL041 Open Weave Oatmeal Fs Premier Finish - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.01 oz/yd2), Width 57"
At 5.1 ounces this Open Weave 57 inch wide linen has a unique slightly sheer look and feel that sets it apart from other medium weight linens. Open weave does not make it less durable or versatile, just loosely woven.
This linen should be laundered in a cold wash-tumble dried on air setting or very low heat--line dry if possible.
The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.
First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.
This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

Customer Questions and Answers
I have been pleased with other purchases. However, this fabric (that's pushing it) is useless for any application that I sew. I would compare it to burlap, which I do not sew. It is deceiving to offer this as linen.
I have used several colors of this to make light, airy over tops for the summer. V-neck, open at the front, mid-thigh kaftan style, side slits - one yard is all it takes. The fabric is very loosely woven with rather thick threads, so it has enough substance that it doesn't wrinkle easily but breezes pass straight through. These tops have enabled me to wear tank tops again in the steamy southern summers without exposing upper arms and other less lovely body parts. The fabric ravels very easily so all seams must be finished. I treat this linen as I do all my linen clothes - machine wash, 5 mins in a hot dryer, shake and hang to finish drying.
This fabric is not suitable for women's apparel as it states. The texture and weave is at best a coarse burlap. I'm stuck with it, as it would cost me $3.00 to mail back an $8.00 purchase.
