Darkness pervades Tacita Dean's artworks, falling over craggy rocks and epic mountains into inky, bottomless wells. BLACK Linen shares Dean's endless black, a colour that intensifies mystery and drama, cloaking and concealing everything it touches.

At 5.1 ounces this Open Weave 57 inch wide linen has a unique slightly sheer look and feel that sets it apart from other medium weight linens. Open weave does not make it less durable or versatile, just loosely woven.

This linen should be laundered in a cold wash-tumble dried on air setting or very low heat--line dry if possible.

Elegance with substance

This makes a beautiful shawl which can go From office to an evening out. See my post of the one I made trimmed in hand spun yarn of silk and yak.

Exactly as described... Open Weave...

The faults on me, I did not read closely enough. This is very sturdy fabric with an OPEN WEAVE. So it's see through. :-( Won't be able to use it for the intended project, but it will see use. I know I'll read more closely now, but I might also wish such an important detail was included in the fabric's name/title/page heading.

I followed the instructions for a shawl that were posted for this fabric. Then I embellished it with some yarn I spun of 50% silk / 50% yak. I made it for a gift and in other remaining yarn for any possible needed repairs.
