Bleached color is achieved by "stripping" the natural pigment out of the fibers( just like you would with bleaching hair). What you are left with is a very soft shade that is just ever so slightly an off-white color.
Bleached is the basics of any project and loves being dyed. It is actually what we use to dye the colors. A truly versatile base and a must-have addition to your fabric repertoire.

The beautiful open weave texture of this linen gives it a light, airy opaque look, making it an excellent choice for apparel, intimate apparel, accessories, interior design projects and so much more. This cloth is 57 inches wide.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Beautiful stuff

I'm not sure what I will be doing with this, but it would make a great wedding veil, sheer curtains, or a lovely feminine layer in an ensemble. There is nothing cheap looking about this fabric; it washes up nicely and seems to sew well with the machine. I tend to prewash everything, but if I were making a garment of this, I might do some testing to see about shrinkage and then cut and sew it before washing, because it has a nice crisp texture that might make construction easier. The white is very white.

Incredible stuff...for the right use

I got a piece of this in my last order, it was a Doggy Bag offering. When I first saw it, I thought why did I get this? What can I do with it? Then I got the idea to make washcloths, just cut nice squares and stitched a hem. They are INCREDIBLE!! What a wonderful washcloth this fabric makes...so exfoliating yet gentle! I love it! Now I am ordering more to make washcloths so I will have enough. Great stuff but you have to have the right project for it!!

Tarra profile image Essentially Cheesecloth. Bummed.

No matter of hot wash and hot drying tightens up the fibers enough to make it so that this doesn't have the appearance of cheesecloth. The fibers are so far away the only reason it's "sheer" is cause the weave is so loose. I literally can't use the 3 yards of it that I bought. :(

Wavy Shower Curtain. I used the softened bleached 2.8 for my shower curtain and made waves from colors from 5.3 weight and applied with zig zag stitch. It was inspired by where I live in Hawaii and I nailed the ocean wave colors! A REALLY fun project that I'm happy with. Note: DO NOT wash your colors with this fine linen. I had purchased 2 yards and needed 4. The first 2 I had already washed and then I washed the other 2 yards with the colors. WRONG! They actually ran a little into the white! So I washed it all together first piece of white and got a beautiful blue sheen (doesn't show in pic). It turned out fabulously but I was in a panic at first. Used the IL030 Bleached Softened to decorate the wedding arch - softened worked better being more pliable right off the roll so didn't have to prewash or anything. Just rolled off the bolt and secured with flowers and voila :)
