A vibrant dark teal shade that makes you wonder if it's blue or green. SPHINX linen's exotic jewel tone unfurls across Inka Essenhigh's evocative paintings, investing sublime oceanic depths or mysterious forests with a haunting, glowing aura. Fantastically surreal, her exquisitely detailed, atmospheric scenes collapse together natural and synthetic worlds, conveying lush, fervent landscapes populated by sprites and fairies, scenes painted with supernatural colours and the emanating light of the cinema screen.

At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Shae profile image Gorgeous, and sews beautifully!

I love the handkerchief linen for tops. The colors I have purchased are not sheer at all, and the wrinkling is really minimal. Fabrics-store has the best linen and linen prices, hands down.

Beautiful, intense color

I've ordered this color once before, so this is my second top in Sphinx! I enjoy my time sewing linens--they are so easy to piece together and the finished garment is always so attractive! I love the options available for embellishment, as linen screams for top stitching and color blocking. Sphinx is great with Midory or Asphalt or Aluminum. I've finally realized that ALL linen can lose color very quickly at the seams, so I hand-wash every piece I have.

Fabulous!

I love this fabric! Washed it first and it became very soft. Funny part is that I am actually using the lint that came off of it in the dryer for a felting project too. Two projects in one! The color is gorgeous, the texture is lovely. I can't wait to finish my dress and show it off!

Lovely!

I haven't yet been able to make use of this fabric, but I am thrilled with the quality and texture of this fabric. It's soft and supple to the touch, the weave is even, and the color is glorious. It's the perfect weight for the Medieval garb I will be making, and I may have to make some mundane garments of it, as well. Florida, you know!

Beautiful Color

The Sphinx colorway is a beautiful teal blue--a color that looks good on everyone. I'm prewashing this fabric and (head's up), there is quite a bit of dye releasing into the water/soap solution. I've experienced this before with cellulose textiles dyed in the turquoise range--speculation on my part, but it just may be the nature of procion type dyes in this particular color range.

Detail of ruffles. I cut them on the bias, zigzagged the edges, then gathered down the middle and sewed to the top. I'm hoping when washed it will fringe slightly. I wanted it to be slightly rustic.

I am in love with this lightweight linen, and especially this color Sphinx! Made a top with pleated bell sleeves, pockets, and a ruffled trim around faced neckline.

Lovliest shade of teal. Reminds me of a clear and deep green ocean. Embroidery in white to contrast along the hem
