IL020 Handkerchief Mediterranean Blue Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Light (3.7 oz/yd2), Width 58"
Raoul Dufy’s art was a celebration of life, in all its stunning, technicolor glory. He painted with light, airy brushstrokes and intense colors like MEDITERRANEAN BLUE, illustrating boundless optimism and the endless days of lazy, sunlit summer.
Dufy spent much of his career painting along the Mediterranean coastlines of France, and his paintings capture the enduring azure skies and seas all around him with a fresh, sparkling spontaneity. Blue, it seems, was always his favorite color, representing sky, sea and the wide-open possibility for freedom and escape.
At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
Where was this fabric made/finished and sold from?
Hello, All of our fabrics are of European origin. For detailed information please see our article on the topic: support.fabrics-store.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000218746-Linen-Quality-Certification
Can I use this material for shorts?
You can use this material for shorts, but we usually recommend our IL019 medium weight since it is more durable especially in areas which get a lot of abrasion like the thighs. if that won't be a problem, then this fabric is a good choice.
does this have less wrinkling then the 5.30z wt? Work for a lined dress?
Given the smooth hand and lighter weight, this fabric can be known to wrinkle less than its heavier weight counterparts. That is until any of our linen fabrics naturally soften with repeated washing and use, when they will become more wrinkle resistant in the same manner.
Will the light linen work for napkins?
We do have customers that have used this lighter weight for napkins and they come out beautifully.
Neither blue nor green, this is the most perfect turquoise color I've ever purchased. I was going to make the Hana dress with it, but I just saw and bought the new Maia Dress pattern and I will wait for it to arrive. Will post pictures on completion.
my first post after more than one hundred projects with FS linens! i'm about to send these off to my son who chose mediterranean blue plus tangelo for his summer pajamas. the hand is unimaginably soft, plus the orange piping in the midweight tangelo gives a nice structure and weight to the seams. this is a vogue men's pj pattern, but next time i'd just use the FREE fs paola jacket pattern plus piped trim - it's better designed & construction is easier. you can't see the orange drawsting on the trousers but it's a fun touch :-) as always - thanks fs for fantastic linens!

All three are gorgeous shades.
