IL020 Handkerchief Dawn Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Light (3.7 oz/yd2), Width 58"
There is a light, airy delicacy to DAWN linen,
suggesting spring blossom or translucent rose petals blushing pink in
the sunlight. It was a colour American artist Georgia O'Keeffe returned
to over and over, capturing the pastel toned vibrancy of fresh, new
flowers and the dry, parched earth of America's barren deserts.
At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
I ordered Dawn to make a housedress...the color is so gorgeous I'm going to make a "town" dress instead. The clarity of color, not murky, makes all the difference.
The title pretty much says it all. It's the right color and weight for my project--the lining in an Elizabethan womens' waistcoat. Usually such waistcoats are lined with silk, but I wanted something more washable and durable. Yes, I know I'll have to iron it, but I'd have to iron silk as well.
I got this fabric to make a simple dress for my very picky mother and she absolutely loves this fabric! She is a person who will only wear all natural fabrics and linen is a personal preference for her and her favorite. She is in love with this linen as am I. It washes very well, the color is so delicate and although more if a peach when in person, is still so incredibly pretty and did not fade in washing. Handling and sewing was just as much of a pleasure. Will definitely be purchasing this one in the future!
This is way brighter than I was expecting, almost like a highlighter pink. Still pretty but not the peachier, softer pink I was expecting.
After not sewing for over 40 years, I started making masks at the beginning of the pandemic. Over 700 donated masks later, I said "Enough!" and decided to sew clothing for myself. I found out about FabricsStore.com from JenniferMaker.com who gives crafting ideas using Cricut products. I logged on to fabricsstore.com and registered and then I got an email offering the IL019 for 38% off. Ok, I'll bite. I got 15 yards of it, plus 2 patterns and 10 yards of IL020 in Dawn (that salmon color). The first thing I made was the Phoebe Tank in some scrap cotton poly I used for mask lining. Well now, that wasn't so hard! Then I made Chelsea in the IL019 and fell in love with the linen. It's so soft! Then I made Monique in the IL020 but it was too big, so I made a smaller size, which my sister stole. So I made another one. Then came the Alexandra pants in the IL019, but wouldn't they be better with pockets? So, I made a pair with pockets. I have downloaded almost every pattern plus tutorial on the website. All the while, these pushers are sending me emails about sales and OH! we have this pattern plus free fabric and OOOh look at this color dontcha want it? So, they have made me a linen addict and I now have bought 266 yards of the stuff. The Excel project sheet I made up says I have enough projects planned to last me through October. That is, if I don't eat or sleep. And they are still sending me emails. Bad pushers, BAD, BAD! But, gee.... it's all so soft and that color is so pretty! I love my linen pushers!!!!
I love this material as it is so smooth but it's just a tad too translucent for me so I lined this oversized shirt, Vogue pattern V9162. As it turns out, even the XS size pattern was way too big but it was a good learning experience with the hidden button placket. I had not done one of those before.
