Bright, hot pinks like BOUGAINVILLEA burst forth from the abstract art of post-war British artist Patrick Heron, illuminating space with the radiance of summer flowers.
A true colorist, Heron dedicated much of his life to the exploration of how one tone could bounce of another, and create sonorous or discordant sensations. He said, “I think this world is magical. Color, form, space, relationships – these elevate life.”
At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

This fabric is a light and airy fabric, so it may be too light for a 'structured top' Depending on how much structure you need, I'd recommend either our medium or heavyweight fabrics. I thought it would be more reddish. It is a deep rich pink. Still beautiful though. Buttery feel! Will be purchasing more. I want a pair of pants and/or a top. A top in this color and a pair of optic white pants would be gorgeous! Or vice versa!!
I've been ordering from Fabrics Store since 2017 and they never miss! The quality and the color range of their linens is incredible. This hot pink is SO PRETTY. I sell these giant scrunchies on Etsy and I can barely keep this color in stock. It's a true hot pink, but doesn't feel too bright or neon. There is a deepness and richness to the color. The 3.7 oz weight linen is perfect for apparel— it has structure and a beautiful drape, but doesn't feel bulky. I use this lighter weight for projects with finer details or lots of pleating or gathering. I exclusively use the Fabrics Store linen for my Etsy because of their high standards and consistency. This is the first thing I'd sewn with linen. Such fun to use this bright and lovely fabric. The pattern is Love Notions Vivace Dolman.
The handkerchief weight is extremely lightweight and airy. Coupled with the incredibly soft hand, it is my favorite linen to use for summer sewing. The hot pink hue of Bougainvillea allows for this lightweight material to not be too sheer, so I have no worries about undergarments peeking through unintentionally. (However, my hunch says that the white colorway wouldn't be as forgiving!)

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
