Johannes Vermeer was a master of understatement, crafting exquisite, enigmatic beauty from quiet scenes of domestic life. AUTUMN GOLD linen's warm indulgent tone takes its cue from the golden light that ignites these hushed interiors and makes them shine with the gloss of precious metal. Strategically placed strands of complimentary colors including Delft blue and china white allow yellow tones to resonate and sing out even brighter, transforming ordinary interiors into magical places of silent wonder.

At a lighter weight of 3.5 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is woven with finer threads to give it a smoother appearance. Referred to as lightweight or handkerchief linen, this fine, but surprisingly sturdy linen brings new meaning to the term "sheer elegance".

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

What is the best weight to use for napkins.

For everyday napkins we like to use our IL019 medium weight linen, or this IL020 lightweight linen. For special occasions you can't go wrong with the 1C64 luxury linen.

Love this color and weight!

This weight linen is my favorite for blouses and I love the Autumn Gold color! I made two different style blouses using this color and weight. I wish FS would make more of the colors available in the ILO19 in this weight, too!

Judy profile image Inconsistent fabric weight and finish

I recently bought 2+ yards of autumn gold and 4 other colors of the light weight softened linen. The variation in fabric weight was pretty surprising as well as the softened finish which was pronounced in some but lacking in others. The autumn gold was a bit heavier than the other colors, but washed up with a nice soft finish. The lightest weight color by far was the silver lilac.

Any of their product!!

Always awesome!! I don't know how to put it better. When i did have a problem (my fault) it was handled quickly, personally, yet professionally!! I will never buy linen, or anything they carry, from another vendor!!

I would recommend giving this color a different name

I've bought the 020 linen before, and this is as nice as I expected. Only problem is, I was expecting it to be the same color as the 019 Autumn Gold linen, and it isn't. It has much more of a brown tone in it, so if what you want is a more lightweight version of that bright reddish gold, this isn't it. That said, it's still a pretty color, and I will use it.

I get more compliments on this garment!

I made a 900AD Norwegian Viking under-dress out of this linen and I love it! I paired it with an aqua blue apron dress and I get more compliments on this garment than any other I have completed. I never would have said this color would look great on a very pale red-head, but it does. The fabric is very light, great for humid summer days, but I do not get sunburned through it. Easy to work with, and the color does not bleed (I did white linen thread embroidery on the garment and the white is still crisp after many machine washings and hang drying.)

Wow!

Just received my box of linen goodies the other day, and it will be an absolute joy to work with the Autumn Gold fabric, after carefully selecting matching thread. I plan to make a nice, long, three yard shawl to take with me to concerts and other gala events. I happen to have a Tibetan door-flag in this shade of gold, and I plan on embroidering and embellishing it in a similar style. It is SO difficult to find linen material that is of a suitable weight for wearing in our hot and humid Florida climate, and this is THE linen for me. It is so soft, breathable, and of a perfect weight for this climate, usable year-round, something that is difficult to find here. It is impossible to find colors like this here, and this is perfect for re-enactment gear. I LOVE IT already. It is just plain gorgeous.

Great, but a little dark

I ordered this expecting it to be more of a lighter saffron color. It turned out to be a very rich, saturated gold that was almost brownish. I bleached it to the color I needed for my Irish leine as seen in the posted work. Other than that, I love it! The products I have ordered have all been wonderful! They all wash to such a soft and comfortable texture, especially for re-enactment costuming.

Used Simplicity S9291 to create this dress. The fabric is absolutely perfect for the summertime and it's the only thing I ever want to wear.

Blouse in ILO20 Autumn Gold

Lisa • October 10, 2022

I made a flowy shift dress with this beautiful fabric and used a mesh fabric with bees as an overlay on the top. Also a black slip with lace made in this weight of fabric in black. A dream to wear.

"I made this top (IL020 Autumn Gold softened) and did smocking in the yoke. To make it more interesting, I added black beads to the smocked area."

Hello Debra, what machine do you have to do the embroidered cow on the hat or scarf that you posted I using IL019? I am about to buy one but don't know how much it is necessary to spend in order to make great items like yours. I love it! Thanks. Pat

Lovely lightweight linen. Makes a great fabric for embroidery. I embroidered this cute whimsical dairy cow on the harvest gold linen with ease. Colors compliment and look great. I love this linen. Scarf can be purchased at designsbydebee@etsy.com

Autumn Gold- Roman Shades Donna Albright

Donna • March 31, 2010

This is a 16th century irish gown I made almost entirely out of Fabric-store.com linens. The underskirt is Ultramarine, the lining of the overgown is Tawny Port, and the bag-sleeved undershirt (aka leine) is Autumn Gold. The ultramarine was nothing like the color on my screen, but I expected that after looking at the posted works. It's a beautiful dark dark almost periwinkle. The Autumn gold was WAY darker than expected, and has been bleached several times in this pic to a perfect saffron. I have never been disappointed by the quality of fabric. Very nice to work with!
