Pale, hazy tones of dawn swept across Paul Nash's dreamy scenes, suggesting a place where all is hushed and still. The warm, pastel green of WILLOW linen was one of his recurring colors, invoking the cold light of frost-bitten grass, whispery strands of freezing fog or dreamy forms that seem to fade into distant, heavenly skies.

Nash’s early landscapes captured the light and life of real places around him, but towards his later career representation gradually fell away, making room for a personal language of Surrealism that reflected on the deeper meaning of life. Even so, the soft colors of the early morning British landscape stayed with him, taking on mystical, imaginative properties. “My love of the monstrous and magical led me beyond the confines of natural appearances into unreal worlds,” he wrote.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

For the fabric, I wanted something really light and bright. Bright so the color doesn't soak up too much heat and light – who am I kidding – with me there is always a bit of a sunburn involved on the beach. And sunburn and heavy clothes is a big no no for me (- the only alternative is to be naked in a dark room marinating in AfterSun lotion or Aloe Vera).

I've been using this linen for years in various weights and colours and I'm never disappointed. I used the willow with crimson accents and binding to make a lengthened corded and quilted Regency short stay. The Crimson accents ended up giving it an assassin's Creed vibe (which doesn't bother me at all)

perfect weight for summer

I've been using this midweight linen in various colors for sleeveless button front blouses for hot, humid weather. It is perfect....not at all sheer but still light and cool, it allows good air flow and I find that even on the hottest days it keeps me cooler than even the cotton lawns or voiles that I was previously using.

So lovely

I ordered this along with the olive linen. The color is beautiful. It is a bit more vibrant in person than on the website. I am so pleased with everything I have ordered from your website. Thank you!

Megan profile image Wonderful Fabric

This was my first experience with linen and I loved it! It is a dream to work with and it wears wonderfully! It is light and breathable and has a nice drape. The only downside is that it wrinkles quite a lot but that is to be expected with linen. Also had fast shipping/delivery time and came neatly packaged. Can't wait to use it again!

just lovely

This is the usual soft and lovely IL019. The color was slightly duller than I'd expected (totally in line with normal monitor variations though), but that was not an issue for the project and I've just ordered a brighter shade for the next skirt. As ever, I'm a very happy customer!

Willow

Willow is a lovely soft green a bit paler than what shows on my iMac screen. I purchased several yards to make (another) set of Cal. King sheets. Since making the first pair we do not want to sleep on anything else. Linen is breathable in the summer and warm in the winter. We can live with a bit of wrinkling because the fabric feels so nice against the skin. I like that there is minimal processing to this linen. I always pre-wash my linen which cuts down on the 'dust' but this color seemed to put out quite a bit more linen 'dust'. It also was a bit more challenging to iron out wrinkles with this color. I love all of the linen I've bought from F/S and enjoy making things as gifts for others. I am definitely addicted ; )

When I first saw the fabric after I ordered it, I immediately knew that I wanted to sew something that says "Hi – I'm a cool and fun mum, and also I'm a confident woman". So I ended up sewing the Oona Dress from VikiSews.

I created the napkin rings in a Clay class I am taking and then I needed napkins to go with them!! This Willow green was perfect. This is the first time I have ever worked the hem stitch! I am excited to use these on our Thanksgiving dinner table!! :)

Wonderful fabric and Colors! I used IL019 Willow to make a c.1908 coat suit and paired it with IL019 Evergreen for the collar, buttons and trim. I loved working with the fabric! It is a really nice weight with a lovely drape and it breathes beautifully in the hot sun! Can't wait to use it again!

If I remember correctly, I ordered this color accidentally instead of "Meadow," but it is another beautiful, calm shade of pure linen =). I appreciate the quality customer service here! Rebecca lilpeeperkeepers.etsy.com

This embroidery is on a green 5.3 that I got from the doggie bag. I made him into an appliqué and put him on a tote. For other linen embroidery projects, look up KateCreations Nashville
