The dazzling brilliance of SULPHUR Linen filled American artist Anne Truitt's work with shafts of golden sunlight, encapsulating the glowing warmth of her native Washington.
Truitt sought ways of infusing artworks with the colors of her idyllic childhood in Maryland, from dazzling white picket fences to blazing yellow sunlight and glistening stretches of juicy grass. A Minimalist at heart, Truitt translated these hues into subtly nuanced sheaths of color, distilling memories of place into their purest and most refined essence.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Great fabric

Eye catching color. This fabric is a great weight for making historical reenactment costumes. It wears well, flows very nicely, and is great for summertime heat.

Wild color! Used to make slipcovers for chair cushions.

You may need sunglasses for this bright yellow. I ordered the swatch first so I was not surprised. I washed and dried the yardage with a hot setting 3 times to pre-shrink it. Then I quilted it with a walking foot to a muslin backing with a low loft poly batt in between. I did not quilt the zipper insert but I stabilized that part with a medium weight interfacing. It was lovely to work with and I had no trouble with puckers on the quilting.

Sunshine! All these fabrics are IL019. King size, three panels all serged and flat folded seams underneath. A cumbersome project moving between sewing machine and iron (separate room) but so please with the outcome. Warm and soft.
