IL019 All-purpose Sanguine Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2), Width 58"
SANGUINE linen
shares an earthy, enveloping warmth with the great French
Post-Impressionist Paul Cezanne, who infused his paintings with this
glorious, sun glazed terracotta.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
Hi there! What color Gutermann thread matches best with this fabric? Thanks!
Hello , We have used Gutermann Sew All color #587 as a nice match for Sanguine.
Recently upgraded my personal colour analysis, still deep autumn so neutral, despite my champagne hair naturally evolved from early charcoal. This is one of the most delightful new colours for me, matches well. I bought Montana grape as well, the combination is breath taking for me. Curved stylish pants from the grape, and a luscious overthing from the sanguine. Hard to find this exact shade. Love it...
Not Pink and Not too orange. My husband asked for this to be made into a summer shirt for him. He told me, that he had heard that Linen was a good fabric for hot weather. I am looking forward to making him a shirt. Thank You, Linda A.
The color is beautiful and closely matches view online which is great to know for future purchases. I did accent pleats to add texture to the pillow shams. This fabric (I purposely did not wash beforehand) hand pleats enough that after chalk marking, I could hand pleat/finger pinch and then iron without pinning everything. I ironed the pleats and then sewed the seams - primarily as I didn't know if I wanted to add top stitching (I didn't). I love how they turned out with our new bedding ensemble. A great change of scenery during quarantine.
I have purchased both this color linen and also the Red Ochre, they are nearly the exact same in color and both also are such high quality. I made a couple of tablecloths with my first purchase and now I am working on a linen quilt from the book "Home Sewn" by Cassandra Ellis. I recommend this book highly and it has a lot of wonderful projects that can use linen. I have all her books and she also has some nice quilt books out. This linen, combined with the other shades that I have purchased recently, will make a lovely pieced quilt. Can't wait to get it finished!!
This is the most gorgeous color ever. I'm a natural redhead and this is going to be gorgeous. And it feels like butter. I just love these linen fabrics.
I tackled the Amalfi pattern with no particular plan other than to use a lot of colors. I used 1 yard increments of several colored linens, All-purpose Mix Natural, Autumn Gold, Agave, Wisteria, Sanguine, Lilas – all IL019, and that determined how far down my color piecing work began as I cut the main body pattern pieces from the off-white linen and then worked with the other colors to fill in the gaps.
I used IL019 SANGUINE softened-middle linen to color block the McCall's #6044 for my husband. I found the seller's description "sun glazed terracotta" very fitting for the true shade of this fabric. Pleased with the results. (IL019 VINEYARD GREEN softened-middle also used in this color blocked shirt.)
I ultimately decided to do the Tamarack Jacket by Grainline Studios, its a nice pattern for these chilly days ahead in the PNW. I did a quilted body with IL019 SANGUINE Softened middle linen, IL019 COMPLEXION Softened middle linen and cotton quilt batting. The feeling of the quilted linen is divine. The binding is all self-made with the same fabric and hand sewn onto the garment. I went with the two shades of pink because I wanted something fun as well as functional. So much of my wardrobe is black, white and cream – I needed a little color and took this opportunity to do that!
