IL019 All-purpose Safari Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2), Width 58"
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
Will this be restocked? I need it to make a duvet to match cushions I made previously!
Hello, we do hope to restock this fabric, but we do not have an ETA for its restock at this time. If you need it quickly, perhaps you can try our Facebook group, and see if any of our members have this in their stash that they are willing to send to you.
Does this work for embroidery done by hand?
Yes, this fabric can be used for both hand and machine embroidery. If you are doing embroidery which requires an even thread count and weave, please see our 1C64 which is the same weight and has these features.
would this make a good fabric for slipcovers. i am trying to find fabric that will not pill for my sectional.
This fabric is ideal for an occasionally used slip cover. Our customers also like to use the heavier 4C22 for something more substantial and durable.
which linen works best to make tea towels?
Our heavyweight linen 4C22 is ideal. We have used this based fabric and woven it in a narrow width version IL084 for everyday kitchen towels, and IL085 for something bright and colorful.
Would this be a good weight to make a duvet cover?
Yes, this is one of the fabrics we recommend for sewing a duvet using our free pattern: fabrics-store.com/sewing-patterns/classic-linen-bedding-duvet-cover-type-pdf
How will linen hold up as curtains in a sunroom? Morning sun in 4 windows, early afternoon sun in two others?
This fabric will allow light to beautifully filter through for your sunroom. If you want to block out more light, you might want to consider our 4C22 heavyweight fabric. Overtime, the fabric may brighten on the sunny side due to UV, so keep this in mind as our fabrics do not have any sun protection coatings applied to them.
What is the difference between "softened" and "signature finish" on your medium weight 100% linen? Janet
You will find the definitions of the different finishes at our help center here: support.fabrics-store.com/hc/en-us/articles/4403575338253-Fabric-Finishes-Explained
Is this a good weight for a slip cover for a settee? thank you. Marianne
The IL019 has been used for slipcovers and other upholstery projects but usually for items are not in what is considered a high traffic area. The more popular choices are fabrics that are 7 ounces or greater in weight.
How wide is your fabric
This one is 59" wide. On the main website when you click on the individual colors/patterns/designs within a group it will take you to a larger description page that lists all of the specifications of that item including width.
The top color linen is the Safari Softened, IL019. I used a botanical printing process with local foliage to print the leaves on the lower part, IL019 Bleached Softened. Used some ferrous sulphate in the process, which changed the color slightly when leaves were rolled and steamed. The pattern is Butterick B6416, an older pattern that i found online.
