British-American painter Cecily Brown weaves Purple Sage Linen’s deep lavender shade into her expressionist canvases, letting it form shadowy rivulets of uneasy, hedonistic darkness.
Brown made her name in New York in the late 1990s, painting tangled bodies lavishing in paradisiacal gardens with fleshy passages of paint in rich, indulgent jewel tones. Process, she explains is at the heart of her practice, which evolves naturally over time. “I’m not the kind of artist who has an idea and then carries it out,” she says. “It’s more like I find what the idea was through doing the paintings.”
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Love the color and feel of this linen. Am planning on making a sleeveless blouse for this summer. Flattering color to wear.
I bought a few different linens for my sister, who is going to Europe this July! She wanted some comfy linen and wanted a nice color pallet. All the other purples where either to bright/neon-y/blue or gray, or to dark for what she was looking for. We took a risk on this color choice and it was 100% worth it. Its vivid with out being primary purple, but rich enough to know what color it is. I will also post photo to show best show off the color. :)
This is an amazing lavender! Please bring it back.
I often like very bright colors, but this one appealed to me so I tried it. I made a high-waisted loose dress, and the color is very flattering. Muted, yes, but undeniably purple. When I'm out in the sun, it looks more blue, in the house, a little redder and I love that it changes. I'd buy it again if it were still in stock.
I wished I had bought more yardage , it is gorgeous rich color and feel. Love it.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
