IL019 OLIVE BRANCH Softened - 100% Linen - Middle (5.3 oz/yd2)
OLIVE BRANCH
Linen's earthy green rolls outwards across Hieronymus Bosch's fantastical scenes,
forming endless pastures of muddy grass and fervent trees that evoke the
utopian paradise of Eden. His paintings are brimming with moralizing
stories about life, love, loss, and repentance, as impish humans, birds,
fish, insects, and machines form mini-dramas that play out in a complex
myriad of theatrical sequence.
But it is the paradisiacal, olive green
landscape that unites them, a soft neutral with golden undertones,
which, when bedecked with small patches of glistening jewel tones,
sparkles with vitality and life.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces, this 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

I love this fabric and the color is the perfect shade of 'olive'!
I used 3 yards of the olive branch linen to make a couple tunics. The fabric is a lovely natural brownish green color and was very easy to sew with. My fabric came quickly and was beautiful! It is a great weight for clothing, and the tunics get softer with each wash.
First off, this fabric arrived SO QUICKLY, I got it prewashed and ready to sew while my project idea was still fresh in my head. I love that it's opaque, while still light weight and flowy. It has great drape. I will absolutely be sewing with more of this mid weight linen!
Excellent color, texture, and quality fabric.
I just started sewing and this is by far my largest project. Bought this color and made a fitted sheet and few small pillows.. It matches perfect with the "Sand" yellow. Great quality!
Good stuff! More green, less brown than it seems to read on my screen - ymmv, but have a look at some of the completed project pictures to help. Exactly what I hoped it would be!
This linen is exquisite. I ordered 3 yards to make baby clothes, the week after our son, daughter-in-law, and little stepson broke the news to us. Very speedy shipment and arrival- I got my order within five days. It was neatly folded and wrapped in plastic. The price is amazing for this fine quality fabric. I did a zigzag stitch around the fabric edge to prevent raveling and washed to accommodate any shrinkage. It actually shrank very little and came out of the dryer very soft, perfect for baby clothing. It was a pleasure to sew the little vest from this linen, and I am so pleased with the final project. I will probably add some embroidery, and I can imagine from the feel of the fabric how well it will lend itself to machine embroidery (or even hand embroidery, for that matter). Very pleased with my purchase.
Bought this and the same in the 4C22 and made matching top and pants. The colors were not exactly the same between the weights (The 4C22 was yellower,) but they still work . As always, beautiful hand and drape
Gorgeous color and one that really works well with my olive skin. I am a budding seamstress with a reawakening passion for sewing. This fabric really is addicting. I am stocking up for winter projects and love the fact that this company offers help to novices like me.
I have used this color a couple of times. I've made a a linen dress in which I let the edges of the neckline raw. I recently used it to make a baby floor mat for a grandchild. The fabric weight is very versatile - I often use this weight for making skirts cut on the bias with a drawstring wait.
I bought this to make a robe for a friend. They absolutely loved it! I found the colour to tend just a smidge cooler than the photograph, but the overall colour is gorgeous and luxurious. Very well worth the purchase.
This "olive branch" color is just right-not too dark, nor too light. It's very versatile and goes with many other colors. Very nice drape and so soft. I'm going to make a jumpsuit for my daughter.
If you can picture the color of a green olive , that is as close as I can describe it. Computers sometimes do not do colors justice. It is a rich color to be sure. It washes very nicely and easy to sew as well. I have bought this color many times and will continue to buy it.
Gorgeous colorThis is ONE of my favorite colors I have received so far. It's absolutely stunning. I can't wait to start sewing on it and I have no doubt that I will probably order more before it's all over. Prior to washing it, II soaked it in water and white vinegar to preserve the color. I've never done this before but following the advice of another person on the site, I went ahead and tried it. It worked perfectly! I highly recommend this if you have noticed the color fading after washing before, like I have. I love it.
I ordered this to make pants using the Pattern named Free Range Slacks by Sew House Seven. I was so happy to realize this color (Olive Branch) matches multiple tops currently in my wardrobe. If you own a top of any type of floral print fabric, chances are very good the green in the leaves of the floral print will match this linen.... which happens to be a perfect weight for wide leg trousers. This is the perfect shade of green for pants even if you are like me and don't normally wear this shade against your face.
I have purchased several colors of this fabric and they have all been very nice and worked well for everything I have created with them. When I want to try a new color, I order a yard, keep a small sample with the color name label attached so I can remember the color name. Then I have enough for a small project and to do some testing with it.
Washed in machine, pressed, cut from pattern, sewn & shaped into a perfect cropped summer jacket. Bought on a whim 3 linen colors, all are wonderful quality & weight for garment-making. No regrets. Thanks fabric-store for being there during quarantine. Appreciate your efficient shipping too.
I'm new to me-made clothing and purchased a few yards of this linen on recommendation from a friend. I sewed a pair of lounge pants and matching top, and I'm in love! The linen itself is the perfect weight for effortless drape, and the Olive Branch color is absolutely gorgeous. This is a set I can wear around the house or out shopping or to the beach. Couldn't be happier!
I love this fabric! I made a kaftan maxi dress for the beach this summer! It turned out beautifully! The fabric was so easy to work with. It washed wonderfully and is going to wear forever!
I love sewing with the various linens I have received from Fabrics-Store.com! I have one of their great fabrics waiting to be made into a tunic. If anyone has sewn with Olive Branch, I would welcome any suggestions for thread manufacturer/coloring. Trying to order thread online is not at all easy and I am ending up with a collection of greens that do not match this wonderful color. Thank you!
I love this material. I can't wait to get the patterns that are coming soon so I can start my projects. The color is exquisite. Very rich and the fabric is sturdy yet pliable. It feels wonderful to the touch and I am thrilled to have found this website!
This the most exquisite olive green ever. I can't wait to make something wonderful to wear.
Absolutely in LOVE with this linen! It sews like a dream and drapes beautifully. The olive colour is perfect and I really like mid weight linen for the coziness factor. I'm so dang comfortable in these pants while still feeling stylish and hip. It's safe to say I have a linen addiction! Shirt is in IL020 bleached linen. Clyde work pant pattern by Elizabeth Suzann
Medieval tunic: This is the olive branch green fabric used for a medieval ranger like tunic. The fabric is a lovely natural looking green with a brown undertone. It gets softer with each wash, but it will require ironing if you want it to not have some wrinkles in it. As this fabric was for a medieval ranger outfit, the natural soft wrinkled look works well with the outfit.
FS ZINA Shirt Dress made with FS OLIVE BRANCH Midweight Linen I look best in autumn tones so I went with OLIVE BRANCH. I also like rust colors so who knows, maybe a second shirt dress will happen soon as well. Dress this up with heels and jewelry, dress down with sneakers, or a warm pair of leggings in cooler temperatures. I don't think you can go wrong styling the FS Zina dress.
