I have been asked from fellow rug hookers to make aprons to protect our clothes. I have made them reversible with a cotton. They crisscross in the back and very easy to put on.
I like the natural color &wieght of this ILO19. I paired it with a bleached of the same weight to make a dress. It turned out beautifully. There were a few chaff pieces that I had to remove to keep from rubbing my skin but they were few in this piece &easy to remove without damaging the fabric. I like the drape of this medium wieght &can't wait to wear it after this article freeze we're experiencing is over. I'm so glad to be able to buy this fabric & use it for my projects.
This makes a great base for fabric painting. I wash and fully dry before using (This is the only time it will see a dryer.) This particular fabric is a bit more ravelly than the dyed versions, so i both zig zag and french seam for durability, but it is worth it. The drape and weight are perfect for 3 season apparel.
I have bought this linen on sale over and over again. I've been sewing for over 50 years now and the linen I purchase at Fabric-store is my favorite fabric. This natural mix was first purchased to make kitchen towels and napkins as gifts to my Grown children. Then others wanted Towels, aprons, napkins, and I wanted it to re-cover my dining room chairs. The softened is so much nicer than regular linen; there isn't the intense wrinkling regular linens are known for. This color is beautiful. The linen is so comfortable, breatheable , and perfect for every skin type. Some of my friends are now purchasing this linen to reupholster chairs or to make curtains and other nice things for themselves. I'm telling you, this is a must have and purchasing any linen from this seller is going to give you more bang for your buck!! Customer service is ALWAYS delightful as well. If you want linen in a wonderful array of colors and weights, look no further. I'm not paid to give you this review. These are my honest opinions. Enjoy a wonderful experience with your own creative ideas. Oh! One final word...my adult Grand daughter is a professional hand embroiderer and this is her "go to" linen as well.
New to Fabrics-Store.Com, was intrigued by the Natural Sotened $7.12/yd 3yd offer, fantastic price, quick ship, lovely feel, amazing look and wonderful weight, can't wait to sew this up as the scarf pattern featured in online site/emails, and other projects... namely more elegant look to wearing covid masks... Also bought a yard of the softened black too... such endless possibilities on projects. Thank you F-S!!
I have 7 colors of your medium weight linen now and I love it! First of all, the colors are beautiful. I open the package and go "Ahhhh." So far I have made a dress, dinner napkins, 3 tote bags and am working on a blouse. This linen washes beautifully and you don't need to press it unless you want to. The finished products are gorgeous. I love the way the linen moves, ripples and sways, in rhythm with the human body. Next up - a Renaissance dress. Awesome fabric!
I love how it feels, but have not made anything yet! Merry Christmas and Happy New year
So soft and sews like a dream. Gorgeous colour, a cross between lightest grey and natural depending on the light. My favourite purchase so far.
The mixed softened is great for any project that needs fluid movement.
The color, weight and price was very nice. I was very disappointed in the amount of slubs in this fabric. It IS RUSTIC to be sure, but not quite what I had expected. I have purchased the IL019 softened in several colors and love love love working with it, I found it to be very sturdy with very few and very small slubs, not like the larger slubs in this linen mix of natural and bleached. I am a bit concerned with my finished sewn pieces as I have already, while ironing the items, experienced loose threads which more than likely will become holes after several washings. I have decided to put this fabric aside for something that does not need time intensive labor, even if it is a labor of love! If you are looking for a classic mix of natural color, of medium weight yet very rustic, this will work nicely.
SO SOFT, so beautiful, so perfect for making anything! Used this to make a linen facemask for my etsy shop, SunlightStitch. I love it and the shipping is always so fast!
I love this linen so much, it's my first purchase from Fabrics Store and I was a little hesitant to try their fabrics. But I got 3 yards of this on sale and couldn't be happier. It is stiff and a bit coarse when it arrives, and smells lovely like hay or a grass meadow. I serged the edges and threw it in a hot wash and then hot dryer. It came out sooo soft and lovely! It's substantial without being coarse. It's just amazing, I will absolutely be buying this linen again!
Thank you for your suggestions. It is a big project and takes some time. But so worth it.
I used this fabric to make a summer dress and I CAN'T WAIT TO WEAR IT! It's a very natural color and I think it will be great!
I bought this fabric to make his and her face masks during this coronavirus pandemic and they have worked out well. I know cotton seems to be all the rage here in America for masks but I do believe linen is a superior choice for all the reasons that we here love linen
to Suzanne who made the tunic. How did you finish the edges in black? thank you Julie
This is part of my first order from this source and I'm glad to have found it. The warp and weft threads are fairly consistent and have an even coloration through the entire piece. There's no one area with more dark than light which makes this visually appealing. The shrinkage was minimal and didn't negatively impact the yardage. There are a few large slubs that formed balls, but it they didn't impact my piece.
Incredible!!! I have been sewing for 50 years (25 professionally) and I have never found linen that has these qualities. It is soft, easy to sew and has a drapable hand. The wide variety of colors gives a seamtresss a number of options for any project. Additionally, I am impressed by the price point. Can't wait to reorder. This fabric is a real winner for me!!!
I love this linen. It's a beautiful color, and has great texture. I've used this color for towels and most recently for pillow cases. I use optic white on cuff.
This is a lovely natural almost variegated color that is perfect for the Prim embroidered samplers and pillows I needed it for.
I made a pair of cropped pants with elastic waist and wide legs from Mixed Natural IL019 four years ago. I used french seams and edge stitching. I have worn (and washed) these pants at least 75 times each year. I can wear these with every single solid color in my closet-- I could pull a sleeveless tank, an oversized tunic, and linen gauze pinafore from my closet in different colors, and the Mixed Natural pants seem to pull all the colors together like magic.
Purchased 11 yards when it was on sale and prewashed it before sending it on to my seamstress. Very nice weight and feel. Looking forward to seeing the finished garments.
This fabric is as pictured, varied threads of warm grey, beige and white. Overall, slightly warm in tone. Beautiful texture of mixed natural colors in the thread to make a rustic looking natural linen perfect for the reverse sides of my cushion covers! I'm sure it would be useful in many situations and because if its simplicity, it looks great matched with lots of other colors and patterns. It really is quite stunning and a pleasure to sew with
Fabric had a lovely tight weave yet a soft hand. It was perfect for making napkins to match a tablecloth i made out of the floral jacquard linen. The doggie bags gave me just enough fabric at a reasonable price to complete a dozen dinner napkins. Together thEy made a lovely gift for a good friend.
I bought the Mix Natural unsoftened linen first, and made a beautiful slipcover out of it (see that listing for posted photo). Now, I buy yardage of this color whenever it goes on sale. I use it everywhere - most recently a long window seat cushion, and yes, even for hand printed Catnip Mice (it's strong enough to resist claws)! It's a grey-toned natural color that I find goes with everything in the home. Also, the perfect color for block-printing my designs.
This fabric is much prettier than than the little picture would indicate and it has a great "feel". It has just the "homespun" look I was wanting; for making an early 1800's style dress. I'll post a picture when I finish, it may be awhile, I'm sewing it by hand!
Great linen. Love the color, texture and the way it washes and wears. I made shorts and crop pants, they are my go to bottoms this summer. This linen washes and dries beautifully, I rarely iron it so the pants are always soft and don't get rigid creases. Now I think I need every color for a little variety!
Love, love, love this fabric. Bought 4 yards, decided to make a summer sheet for king size bed. Bought 4 more yards. Prewashed and dried twice. Now ready for assembly. Plan on a king size summer sheet, and pillow cases for king size pillows. Have already made white regular size handkerchief linen pillow cases, so summer look will be mix natural and white on bed. NOW.......to the sewing machine to make this happen. Love all things linen and this site has been a great source. The Mix Natural could be my favorite. The white in it adds a lovely element.
I purchase 7 yards of IL019. Cut it in half. Sew the two halves together with a French seam, (no raw edges after this!). Then, Hem the bottom with a clean 1/2 inch or 10mm seam. (I have a cool special foot for my Husqvarna Viking Diamond to do this quickly!). Then do a clean fold down 3\" seam at the top end. Sew it down with a Wing Needle and an Entredeux stitch for a vintage look. I use Elmer's Washable School Glue to baste this hem - use an iron to dry the glue before sewing!). This net's you a very clean straight finish! In my hot Texas Climate, these are the smoothest, coolest, most comofortable summer sheets ever... worth EVERY PENNY!
I bought 23 yards of this fabric to make duvet covers out of. it is a great weight (feels very strong and durable.... i was worried it might be too heavy but, its perfect.... i was looking for something with a bit of weight but, not too bulky or stiff for bedding). i would use this fabric to make pillow cases too. the colour is just beautiful. it looks grey to me. it actually looks exactly like shown in the picture online..... its a pretty true representation. i love it and i will be ordering much more linen in the new year.
I'll be honest, when I opened the package of this fabric, my heart sank. It was not at all what I expected both in color and weight. The fabric is actually heavier than I expected. The color ... well, all I can say is it's not as nice as the picture shows above. The fabric contains many white \"slubs\" throughout the weave. Since I love and trust the folks at FabricStore.com, I'm going to try and make a couple of tunics or a sheath dress from this. I might just change my mind and if I do, I promise to post.
P.s. If you do want to use this fabric for stretching, don't get the softened as the fibers are noticeably weaker.
I used this to stretch some canvases with for painting. It's a little lighter then I wanted ( I see now that 7.1 oz is available now!). It seemed to work really well with an extra coat of gesso.
I have made his and her linen face masks using this fabric and it worked out great. Supplies: one 6" x 20" piece of linen fabric (5.5 oz is perfect), one 6" x 10" piece of linen gauze, 5" pipe cleaner for the nose wire and Wrights 1/2" double fold bias tape to trim. The ladies version features linen lace. I gather sides because pleats with this fabric seems a little heavy against the face.
When you think mix natural, think "Greek goddess". It is so soft and beautiful! Roanoke Ring Slings uses only the best linen from fabrics-store.com! They have the best linen at the best price along with the most amazing customer service! Thank you fabrics-store.com! See more at RoanokeRingSlings.etsy.com !
Mixed Natural Softened. Bought 15 yards and had 3 outfits made with it. This is a picture of a dress and poncho that a lady on Etsy made for me. This material frays two different colors, a light and a natural depending upon the direction. Makes for a very interesting and different look. By far my favorite natural linen. Unique!
This is my 'KEYS' wrap dress. This linen is ideal for my clothing line. Especially after laundering, as it has a wonderful soft drape.
