IL019 All-purpose Mecca Orange Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2), Width 58"
A cross between Rust and Burnt Orange, this color exudes both warmth and sophistication. This is one of those colors that just makes anything you use it for "Pop" and stand out. MECCA ORANGE linen is backlit with scorching heat, recalling French Fauvist Andre Derain's glowing, sun-streaked landscapes. He was intoxicated with the golden light in the South of France, painting it with heightened colors that seem to buzz with the electrifying energy of life.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
I love this fabric. I made one pillowcase and everybody in my house wanted two for their bed! I wondered how it would feel and I can report that it stays cool and comfortable all night long.
I love all the linen fabric I have bought so far from F|S. This color of linen is no exception. I will be making a 12th century tunic for my husband out of this material. I washed it in very hot water and dried it in a nuclear hot drier so to get maximum shrinkage. Although this fabric threw off lots of lint, it faded very little and softened nicely. It will be wonderful to sew.
I wanted to make some linen dinner napkins for my sister, who is so generous to all her family. She chose Mecca Orange and I made her 14 20-inch fringed dinner napkins. I hope she likes them! This linen is such a deep, rich orange color that I know will go with her other napkins when she entertains a crowd.
If you are a fan of orange, give Mecca Orange a try for a beautiful fall garment. I paired mine with Olive green (see photo). The mid-weight linen is beautiful for a tailored garment with refined finishing details and is perfect for tailored pants. Be sure to wash and dry at least twice so that you will be able to wash your finished garment; thoroughly press your fabric before cutting. Use a serger to finish all of the seams, and on the pants, edge stitch and top stitch each of the seams for ease of ironing and to create a beautifully finished garment.
I was so excited to work with the LILY Pattern because of its versatility and features. I am obsessed with high collars and shirt dresses. The fact that this pattern had this options was a plus. I am actually looking forward to making all the views. I chose the MECCA ORANGE linen in 5.3oz for the dress. The color is amazing and compliments me so well. I love that it is an all year round shade and a very good pop of color for the winter time. I knew the gold buttons I chose would be a perfect compliment.
This is the front laced dress for the SCA I made with Mecca Orange, excuse my derpy face and sunburn! I love the colour, and handsewing for two weeks couldn't have been easier with any other fabric. This was my first purchase with fabrics-store and I will be purchasing again!
