GINGER Linen's rich caramel shade filled Kurt Schwitters's art. Made
from the ephemera of his daily life in 1920s Germany, almost anything
could be thrown into the mix in torn scraps of color and texture.
Through his endlessly complex designs, pushing back and forth in a bid
for our attention, the prismatic arrangements of natural, near flesh
tones seemed somehow inherently linked to the human experience. Uniting
them was the golden-brown of Ginger which created an overriding mood of
warmth and familiarity.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.
As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

It's nice linen, but the color is a lot duller than it looks on the website. As other people have said, it's more the color of a paper bag. I was kind of disappointed because I was expecting something with more orange in it, but if you're okay with that, it's very good quality.
This beautiful will be perfect for replacing the draperies in our living room/dining room. What I'd really like to review is all the help Maureen gave us in purchasing 25 yards and making sure the order came out right. I was at a loss in how to go about ordering that much fabric at once, taking advantage of the sale price and my rewards. Her help was invaluable. Thank you, Maureen, we'll be back to finish our bed room!.
Great color -- buttery soft finish!
I used this dress to make the tie-back linen dress from the blog, The Thread. It turned out beautifully. The finish on this fabric gives it such a soft, buttery feel right out of the box. This color is an earthy tan with a hint of a gold tone to it in certain lights, almost the color of a brown mustard.
I bought a few yards of this to make some slouchy pants. It's perfect - soft and drapy, but still easy to sew. The color is just a tad darker than paper bag brown; it is less bright than FS's regular ginger. I should take a picture of the two "gingers" together.
I enjoy this linen, but like another reviewer stated, it's not as "spicy" as I would expect with a name like ginger. I'd liken it to the color of a brown paper bag.
I made this jacket using the Ginger FS Signature Finish and couldn't be happier with it. It's line in the Bleached FS Signature Finish. I am now in love with this FS Signature Finish. It's incredibly soft to wear and sews up very nicely!
This a good representation of the IL019 Ginger color linen using a Style Arc pattern. The color would be better described as tobacco, but it is a great neutral color and sews up nicely.

I have made several medieval garb pieces for my husband and I in the last few years, and he found he really liked the feel of linen. He asked if I could make something for every day wear when I was in a sewing mood. This is now his favorite shirt. The color is much richer than shows in my photo.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
