GINGER Linen's rich caramel shade filled Kurt Schwitters's art. Made from the ephemera of his daily life in 1920s Germany, almost anything could be thrown into the mix in torn scraps of color and texture.
Through his endlessly complex designs, pushing back and forth in a bid for our attention, the prismatic arrangements of natural, near flesh tones seemed somehow inherently linked to the human experience. Uniting them was the golden-brown of Ginger which created an overriding mood of warmth and familiarity.

At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 59 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

Our FS Signature Finish was developed exclusively for us using a special process that makes this linen super soft with a comfy, classic look you'll love at first sight.

As a bonus, this process removes almost all of the initial shrinkage, giving you more fabric to get your projects done.
This finish makes the linen as soft as butter. Yep, 100% linen that feels and drapes and sews as no linen you have ever encountered. Because the fabric has been pre-shrunk for you - it will be less than the base cloth width.

I like the pattern that Becky used to make the shrug. Is this pattern available somewhere on your site? Sheila

Lauren profile image Great color -- buttery soft finish!

I used this dress to make the tie-back linen dress from the blog, The Thread. It turned out beautifully. The finish on this fabric gives it such a soft, buttery feel right out of the box. This color is an earthy tan with a hint of a gold tone to it in certain lights, almost the color of a brown mustard.

Paper Bag Brown

I bought a few yards of this to make some slouchy pants. It's perfect - soft and drapy, but still easy to sew. The color is just a tad darker than paper bag brown; it is less bright than FS's regular ginger. I should take a picture of the two "gingers" together.

Nice linen

I enjoy this linen, but like another reviewer stated, it's not as "spicy" as I would expect with a name like ginger. I'd liken it to the color of a brown paper bag.

Lovely texture, color not as expected

This fabric has a soft hand and will be nice to work with and a pleasure to wear. However, I find the color duller than it appears on my screen. The undertones run to yellow/green more than red/orange underneath. It's not as rich and cinnamon colored as I expected.

Carhartt gold

Love this color of gold/brown. Got lots of compliments on the pants I made from this fabric. I will try to post a picture. I think it is prettier than Carhartt gold, so don't be put off by that comparison.

Child's hooded vest is made with 'olive branch' linen - and shirt with 'tadelakt' linen - and pants with 'ginger' linen. Love working with these wonderful linens! By Lyn Tayler Lee for 'Era Of Make Believe'.

I have made several medieval garb pieces for my husband and I in the last few years, and he found he really liked the feel of linen. He asked if I could make something for every day wear when I was in a sewing mood. This is now his favorite shirt. The color is much richer than shows in my photo.

Back view of the same dress. I added a patch pocket on one side.

This is the gathered linen tie-neck dress from The Thread blog. I traced the pattern via the instructions and made it in ginger linen. Such a satisfying project!

cocoon cardigan pattern by a local designer - I thought this could be a nice balance between being comfortable, functional and professional. And, in full honesty, a project this mama could tackle in an appropriate amount of time.
