IL019 All-purpose Dried Herb Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2), Width 58"
Painter, poet, filmmaker and sculptor, Danish artist Per Kirkeby had a prolific practice spanning multiple styles, but underpinning his ideas was a fascination with the structures and patterns of nature.
The fertile, olive shade of green in DRIED HERB Linen appeared often in his evocative, expressive paintings, a color that allowed him to express the emotional beauty and power of the Danish landscape. His view of nature was seen at ground level, where wild tangles of leaves and bracken allow new roots and shoots to emerge from their depths.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Can my tailor make a blazer out of this linen fabric? If so, any idea how much I should order for a 38R sized blazer? Thanks.
You can use this fabric for a lined blazer, but not an unlined one since it won't hold its structure for this style of garment. For an unlined blazer, try out our 4C22 fabric. For a guide for an unlined blazer yardage, please check out our free Mariana blazer pattern which includes yardage information. Of course, your tailor will let you know the yardage required for your size and pattern they will use.
FYI Gutermann sew-all color 765 is a match for linen in DRIED HERB
This is such a gorgeous shade of green! It is like the darker side of a dried bay leaf. I will definitely be getting more of this color for my stash. I would love to see it offered in the ILO20, as well! Love, love, love it!
This linen was purchased to make an 18c petticoat, see photos, to go under a Robe Anglaise for a festival in October. First of all, I have purchased for my historic presentations, many cuts of linen from fabrics-store, maybe 15 or more. I love this linen! I have machine stitched several but hand stitching with this linen is a dream. I look forward to many more projects and sewing with these linens.
I ordered the Dried Herb linen because I wanted a super earthy green fabric to make Style Arc's Ariana dress. I wore the dress to the opera "Don Giovanni" where I was portraying a modern day version of the peasant girl, Zerlina. While the linen photographed as the color that is shown on the website, it is less dusky and has a more vivid green color in person. With wooden flower shaped buttons added as a bohemian nod, the linen was perfect for my intended look. More pictures and details about the dress can be found on my blog: costumeclosetcouture.wordpress.com/2023/05/22/playing-the-peasant-for-don-giovanni/
My daughter was asked to be a bridesmaid at her friend's wedding. The bride assigned each bridesmaid a color and asked them to find their preferred dress for the special day. The bride (our dear friend Courtney) wanted her bridesmaids to have a garden party style, maybe with a full sleeve and all the dresses should give a nod to a picture she provided for inspiration. Amanda came to me with a picture of a dress she had found on Pinterest and we got very excited. We wanted to make this spectacular design in linen. Amanda's color was a very herb type green and we happily chose Dried Herb from FS.
