IL019 DRESS BLUE Softened - 100% Linen - Middle (5.3 oz/yd2)
Dark and decadent, the midnight tone of DRESS BLUE Linen envelops characters in Antony van Dyck's stirring portraits, enveloping them in a brooding, dramatic aura.
Master of the Flemish Baroque, van Dyck was the most successful portrait painter of his day, most notably for King Charles I of England. Stark, chiaroscuro contrasts of light and dark define his theatrical style, while deep, midnight blue is the ideal backdrop for investing sitters with pervading mystery and intrigue.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces, this 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.

I am not an experienced seamstress, but i have a fascination with and addiction to linen. I used the simplest blouse pattern i could find and an off cut to familiarize myself with the material and how it behaves in a machine (I generally prefer hand sewing). It was a little wobbly, but i really like the result. The edges flounce ever so slightly, and that is ok for the style of blouse I chose. "Sewing with butter" is an appropriate description. On a similar material i did find that more than two layers stitched up much better under a walking foot, but i use a walking foot a lot, and as few pins as possible, so maybe that's just my weird self-taught technique.
The blue color is so rich and deep. Completely in love with this fabric. Just finished a king size quilt inspired by sashimi Japanese embroidery aesthetic.
This color is just so beautiful! This linen is, just like all of the Fabrics-store's linen, so gorgeous, easy to work with, most amazing linen fabric I have ever used. I love the texture, the way it "falls", the way it looks. Dress blue is the perfect deep blue navy color. You will not go wrong with this shade, it is the most beautiful thing. Very modern, yet timeless.
The color is a rich, dark indigo. It's really beautiful. I made the Kaftan Dress from your tutorials out of this. It's now one of my favorite pieces of clothing.
I buy this colour all the time. My favourite!!
The best navy colour I have found on the net! Ever!
I just love linen but first washing was a problem for my machine UNTIL I got 4 heavy duty muslin laundry bags from a restaurant/hotel supply place. I got 4 of the extra large bags and use 1 for dark linen, 1 for light linen and 2 for dog blankets and little foam dog beds and anything, really, that collects dog hair. I simply embroidered small markings on the linen-only bags with linen weft threads so that I could tell the linen bags from the dog hair bags. The problem was with my washing machine pump filter which would clog with linen lint and/or dog hair. SO I can wash up a good sized piece of linen in one of those bags, toss it in with a couple of towels or pairs of jeans to even out the load and dry, no problem. Just turn the bag wrong side out, take them outside, shake the dickens out of it and you're ready to go again! I wash the fabric in the bags a couple of times and sometimes the finished item, too, if they're still shedding.
Cobalt and indigo are lighter versions of the same navy color, with insignia blue a touch darker than them. This is a very deep indigo (think several over dyes) which appears black in low light. Gorgeous!
Color is very rich deep indigo hue. Planning on making a quilt and showcasing the quilt stitching! Love your linens!
Was not sure what color of navy I was going to receive. It is a beautiful deep dark Navy. Even my husband commented on what a pretty color of navy.
I love the look and the feel of linen, especially from Fabric - Store.com. The prices are amazing, the value is outstanding. I periodically order different colors just because I like the colors and I plan to make a summer wardrobe. The mid-weight is very versatile, and I want to also use the handkerchief linen for breezy, flowing tops.
This is my all time favorite linen. IL019 is so versatile! In this case, I made a baby sling wrap. The linen is strong enough to be supportive yet soft enough to be used against baby's tender skin. I've also used this linen for bedding, drapes & clothing.
I bought this fabric to use for projects that I would normally dye with indigo. This is a perfect color, weight and hand for Japanese inspired Sachiko stitching, painting and block printing. I used it for clothing, books, pillows and of course purses.
I received this fabric last week and I am very excited to make it into a dress. The color is beautiful and the drape is nice. I wear a lot of black so this will be a definite "great addition" to my wardrobe. Will post a picture when finished. Beautiful price for 100 % linen.
I can't wait to work with this, I opened the box and took one look at the color and fell in love! It's a vibrant dark blue, if you know paint colors at all I'd call it Prussian Blue. So happy with this purchase!!!
Best colour ever... There will be more to be ordered
