IL019 All-purpose Blue Bayou Softened - 100% Linen Fabric - Medium (5.3 oz/yd2), Width 58"
Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema was a dreamy romanticist, painting idealized
historical scenes set amongst the marble pillars and iridescent light of
ancient Greece.
Cool shades of aqua blue like BLUE BAYOU Linen
brought crisp, fresh lightness into his scenes, particularly when
combined with the glossy marble architecture of the ancient world. In
amongst these tranquil and otherworldly settings ethereal characters
dressed in indulgent furs, velvets and silks waft weightlessly like
ghosts from the distant past, hinting at fantastical half-told stories.
At a medium weight of 5.3 ounces this 58 inch wide 100% linen is versatile enough to be referred to as an All Purpose or Do it All linen. With its smooth look and tighter weave, this linen is neither sheer or heavy, but just the right in-between weight you will need for a variety of projects.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Customer Questions and Answers
I am not usually fussy concerning specific colors, but this time I wanted linen to go with a brown/turquoise/gray print. I sent for samples - turquoise, blue bayou in mid weight basic. The turquoise was beautiful, but too bright. This blue bayou is perfect. I used it to make a wrap skirt. It was easy to sew and washes beautifully.
Lovely fabric, as always. I posted a picture of the dress I made with this, to show the difference in color. I do love the color.
Blue bayou fabric is beautiful. Perfect for a simple, classic dress
I am very pleased with this fabric. The colour is really lovely and it is the perfect weight for a summer skirt.
This is the first order I have received from Fabrics-store.com that I have not been completely satisfied with the fabric color. The color has a definite green cast, quite different from the blue/gray displayed and described by other customers. I will probably keep it, but with disappointment.
I love the curtains that I made for my new living room in the middle weight of this fabric. Wash multiple times before sewing was great advice, as it took 3 washing and passes thru the dryer to get all the lint. Beautiful and soft, easy to work with. Was concerned at first at the ripple along the hemmed edge, but another washing trued it right up. I highly suggest getting swatches ahead of time - for color and weight considerations, especially for home decorating where you're buying many yards at a time. Love that this fabric is good insulation, yet still let's light in. Will probably do summer curtains in lighter color and weight, but this is a happy medium for winter. Can't wait to make clothing with it too!
Have to say that this color has become one of my favorites! I made a lovely dress, using this color and some antique embroidered linens and it turned out gorgeous! The quality and price of your linen is second to none and I have become a total linen addict! If anyone is looking for a smoky blue gray this is the color for you! Lovely! You won't be disappointed.
This is the most divine shade of gray blue! A deep, stormy, moody color that is understated and sophisticated. I absolutely love it and will post a pic of whatever I end up making with it. Thank u FS for supplying such lovely linen at such a great price! I would be lost without you!
What a lovely color! Very sophisticated, a greyed soft blue that will set off brighter colors or can easily stand on its own. Great hand after washing. I will make a kimono sleeved embroidered top with it.
