Artemisia Gentileschi was the foremost female painter of the 17th century, working for prestigious clients across Rome, Florence, Venice and Naples. Like many painters of the Baroque era, her art was dark, brooding, and mysterious, telling tales of martyred women from throughout history with theatrical, directional lighting and indulgently painted fabrics.

She often coupled earthy shades of brown, ochre and red with rich, regal berry tones like RENAISSANCE ROSE, creating sharp, tart accents to pull us into the heart of the story and keep us hooked.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

The Premier Finish undergoes a two-step process to give the cloth a luxurious, supple feel right out of the box.

First, we apply a softener to give the fabric a silkier surface. Then, strong blasts of air are blown into the woven cloth. This beats up the fibers to make them softer and mimics the fiber bending process that the fabric undergoes when you've used it a lot.

This finishing process gives the fabric a much softer and more luxurious hand. It will be less prone to deep creases and have less linting. Shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration based on the fabric type ( thread size, count, weave type).

Would this is a good match for dinner napkins? f not, which weight would you suggest for that. I would like something a little heavier than the IL019 linens. Thank you.

Margaret • October 2, 2023

Yes this fabric is the next heaviest weight fabric up from the IL019 medium weight and can be used for napkins.

Does the softness of the fabric change after you wash it? Would I need to add fabric softener to maintain it? Is it too heavy for casual elastic-waist spring or summer pants?

Chris • April 12, 2023
PV

Our linen softens with wash and use. We now carry a softener for our linens.

I am so excited about my cape projects. I have the fabric washed, the lining fabric and notions, and only need to make my simple pattern now. Hoping for a sewing day in a crazy schedule this week.
