The cold, silvery hue of MONUMENT Linen flooded across French Impressionist Gustave Caillebotte's Parisian scenes, capturing the shimmering, majestic grandeur of the newly built city.
Fascinated by photography, Caillebotte invested the same dazzling
qualities of light into his canvases, letting surfaces glisten and
reflect with a mirror-like sheen. Refined, sophisticated grey and silver
tones were his preferred palette, reflecting the glossy stone, polished
surfaces and heavy metals of the refurbished Parisian cityscape that
was rising all around him.
At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.
The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Perfect Gray for my Home Decor Projects
So happy I found your website for quality linen at reasonable prices! I've ordered different gray tones in softened mid-weight (IL019) such as graphite and asphalt but needed something with more light-reflecting properties to brighten my family room full of earth tone stuff (leather couch, wood coffee table, etc.) Monument Softened Heavyweight (4C22) was just the ticket for my decorator pillows and pouf ottomans! Light and bright but still a true gray without morphing into silvery hues.
Amazing Fabric
I was a quilter using cotton and pillow maker with home decor fabric. This Linen is like nothing I've ever used. I will never go back to cotton. I made a table cloth from this for a gift and I am so proud of how it turned out. I can't stop touching the Linen, it is smooth and almost silky the way it hangs. It is amazing fabric.
I've ordered Monument in 4C22 dozens of times. The last two orders have been disappointing. The linen is not the same weave, and has a course texture. My recent order contained several other colors of 4C22 and they were beautiful and soft. I don't understand why it's just this color?
lovely color and weight. May order for window treatments
I am a regular customer and have been ordering this color in the 4c22 for a few years and recently the quality and the colored changed. Now the weave is now much looser and very rustic feeling. To top it off, the cast is so much greener than before. I hope they go back to the beautiful rich color and quality and hope this did not change for all of the 4c22 colors...
Made my Towel Set using Aurifil 50/2 Grey 5004 Cotton Thread. Blended right into the linen beautifully. Love using them & in time they will soften & be better.

1C64 Silver Moon next to 4C22 Monument - both are exceedingly green grays. If that's what you're looking for, they pair quite well together. If not, I suggest ordering swatches for the grays.

FABRIC CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Please note that some of our darker or more vibrant shades will have some residual dye run off or bleeding. It is important that you launder or treat like colors with like colors so that you do not compromise the integrity of any other colors, fabrics or garments during the launder process.
We also suggest that if you are combining one or more of these types of colors with lighter colors that you pre-wash the linens seperately and once the item is completed do not launder again, but Dry Clean.
