With the weighty indulgence of port wine, EARTH linen's warm, rich darkness swept across Italian Baroque painter Caravaggio's canvases, lending them an entrancing, dark opulence. Set against dark shadows and pale flesh, Caravaggio explored how this colour could bring heady notes of sinful decadence into his paintings, heightening their passionate tension and trembling tenebrism, inducing the awe-inspiring spectacle of the sublime.

At a heavier weight of 7.1 ounces this 100% linen is referred to as Rustic due to its more textured look and feel. Durable and perfect for projects that require just a bit more substance.

The cloth is Softened so we have added a softener to give it a silkier hand. The fabric has not been laundered so shrinkage will still have to be taken into consideration (shrinkage depends on fabric weave and laundering method).

Earth

Just received my Earth linen and I LOVE the color. I will be making an 18th century chemise with it, as I wear clothing from that era. Even in my daily modern life I wear 18th century clothing. I can not tell you enough how glad I am that I found your website, and how much I love all the linen I have ordered. LOVE LOVE LOVE Tsutee

Pic misleading

I was pretty upset when I opened the package. The pic shows a rich red brown and what I got was more a burgundy with no brown whatsoever. As the title says, its supposed to be more earth shade than red. I've waste 10 yds with this purchase. Not happy at all.

Favorite color

This is one of my favorite colors of all the linens. "Earth" does not do it justice. It should be called Mahogany. It's a very rich brown, with red and purple overtones. Absolutely beautiful.

I made the Fabrics-Store Paola Workwear Jacket in this lovely 4C22 linen. It's got a nice drape yet enough structure for this jacket. I love the rustic look of the linen and the color is perfect!

So rich and deep and beautiful earthy color!!! I simply adore it!!! I have drawn this beautiful cross-back apron and use this color to sew it. Really, I was a little anxious to sew it using French seam, then top stitched it as jeans, then folding the fabric twice to finish all the edges, but it works great!!! The linen has body, but remains easy to sew. I still use my 11 needle, the 14 or 16 are just too big to pierce the fabric easily and does not help at all in the end. I have presented this new apron with a great cut on my website, lelinquotidien.com (I'm a French person from Quebec, Canada).

This is Paper Theory's pocket skirt pattern in 4C22 Earth. There's not much of a contrast against the wardrobe. Think of Earth as somewhat between a cherry and mahogany wood stain.

I used the 7.1 oz Earth Linen to make the Paola Workwear Jacket. The color shows a bit more "wine" in real life. You can see more of my instagram highlights if needed. I'm very impressed with the free pattern, tutorial on the blog and the finished project. I made a couple alterations to the design to make it fit my preferences and isn't that the beauty of sewing your own pieces!! 10/10 on this color and the pattern.
